So, still alive and kicking and everything is okay. Life has been busy but on the whole not too bad.

New things:
- won a contest and it was fun. screamed like a fangirl and ran around the house.
- got my mother a dsi:xl for mother's day. she loves it and won't get off internets and stop taking pictures. she named it Jumbo, from Yosuba&! my mom is officially a geek.
- realized the next door neighbors are wizards or weres. looked out the back window and saw their son sitting on tool-shed roof, looked out again few minutes later and saw gray cat in same exact spot. totally never would have guessed it otherwise, since the family seems so normal~ *g*
- bought a pink princess tree, named her Relena. geek, she runs deep in this family.
- going to wedding at end of month, everyone but the bride hates the groom and i get to sit at the "rowdy" table. nothing can go wrong here.
- watching Supernatural, finally. just catching up on season 4, maybe by the time I finish season 5 will be out on dvd
- realized i watch the neighbor's a lot, especially the spies across the street for they are entertaining (really, going to leave that basketball goal up again in the high wind? not like the last 20 times didn't damage the house, gutter, and you car.)
- really thinking the next door neighbors are wizards because it suck to be a werehousecat. no respect from the werewolves at all.

Old things:
- still hate Verizon with the depth that surprises me. Verizon = sucktastic
- ANT WARS have started early this year. I will once again wipe out every last ant that makes it inside the house, on this I swear. YOU WILL NOT WIN ANTS.
- it has now been YEARS since i've owned a cellphone. i'm so uncool.... and happy.
danipuff: (naruto - ze crazy)
There is nothing quite so surreal as driving on a lone, 2-lane back road. No other cars around and it just about to turn night. Suddenly a car turns onto the street too and rides your butt for a little before it decides to get in front of you. There it decides it wants to slow down quite a bit, forcing you to slow down. Finally it gets too much and you turn down a side street to get to the main road. After you realize that the license plate read Aryan Nation, the car in front of you has a couple of people, and you and your sister are very visibly two black chicks driving on a lone road with no one around.

Though in their potential defense(?), they could have just been asses trying to get back at us for ONLY going ~5 miles over the speed limit while there were no other cars around.

So in short:
  • I hope it was people being idiots.
  • How is it even possible to get license plates like that?
  • Please, please let that have been idiots being idiots and nothing else.
  • No more backroads for at least a week.

On a lighter(?) note. My computers speakers have died and it's totally my fault. Yeah, we realized (again) why I was banned from having drink around the pc. Also my monitor seems to be trying to die. I'll see about replacing both, someday.

Note: I've started playing The Nethernet. If any of guys play, feel free to add me. I'm macha there. If you're not playing, feel free to join via the pic/link below so that I may get things from you joining. ^__^

So haven't posted here in a long time, no real reason except that my entires would be very short and full of things from my day that probably are boring. Oh life, when did you get so boring and mundane (not that it's not full of lots of happiness and goodness but still boring).

Of course, now I have something to post that is interesting! I won a radio station contest! YAY ME! I was surprised since I never really win anything, much (curse you sponsor wheel. i will win your sweet, sweet money one day). Of course, I realized right after entering the contest how much of a bad idea it really was (d'oh!). Okay, my mother's birthday is Wednesday and she has off, I'm free, and my sister took off so we (my sister and I) decided a movie and dinner would be a good idea. Well, guess what movie that my mother wants to see is conveniently going to becoming out and shown at one of our local movie theaters just on that day? Transformer blahblahblah (I just call it Transformers 2)! I thought it would be a good idea to enter the radio contest for the tickets because, hey, money saved and now we may be able to afford to buy 3 popcorns and drinks (so pricey!). I didn't realize until I entered that the tickets are for 12 (midnight tonight!?!?!?!). Now, for a lot of people this may not be a problem but for me BIG problem. I am a morning person. I can be up at whenever the sunrises and be happy and fresh and whee, but any time after about 10pm and I'm pretty much out of steam and ready to sleep. So yeah by midnight I'm pretty much a zombie and you should put me to sleep for everyone's safety. Now I not only have to be awake but I'll have to stay up for 2+ hours to watch a movie with people around me. This is going to be an experience.

Besides that only thing I have to worry about is this heat. I swear we, in Illinois, are not built for these temperature extremes. Last week I could go outside and breathe and my grass was growing mold from all the rain and now it's a heat advisory. Yesterday it was in the 90s but with the 50+ humidity and complete and utter lack of breeze it felt like 112°F at times (not making that up, it was all official like and such). Just checking my local weather station it says right now it is 82°F and feels like 102°F and it's just 8:45am. Geez summer I know you started Sunday, but did you really have to start out like this? Hopefully summer starts out hot and gets cooler as it goes along. I know it doesn't really work that way, but I need something to look forward to besides heat, heat, and more heat.

Also, my sister has fallen in love with shoujo manga and also really, really in love with the male/male romance manga genre. We recently got library cards and she has read just about all the manga we have at our local library. Thankfully our library is part of the library exchange and my sister and I can fulfill our growing manga addictions.

Lastly I had this weird dream the other day and I don't really remember the dream but I remember how it ended. Destruction all around the world and with this stupid quote "This is how it ends, This is how it ends. Not with bang, not with a whimper, but with the [Chicago] Cubs winning the World Series." Um, yeah, I have a weird mind, Note: If the Cubs ever start winning then prepare for the apocalypse and remember me as your prophet.

So it's been a long time since I posted. No real reason just not much going on in my life. Just letting anyone who wondered know I am still alive and around, just not posting.

I'm not one to post local news, but this is all types of hilarious. So much drama over a team name. The locals are going all crazy because apparently this was posted on the Colbert Nation and so now the name Coal Bears seems to be winning at 95%. Really what else did they expect with it being open to anyone and with that name? I, for one, am holding onto my vote since I remember them announcing that they will show sample team logos later this week, I think.

And.. umm... visit my brute and become her pupil because I only need little things to make me happy.

Anyone on The Nethernet (obligatory join with link to get me stuff link)? I like the idea of playing a game passively (see: I LOST THE GAME) so it is for me.

I'm personally hoping my Christmas miracle is waking up and my governor finally being out of office. One can only hope~

Merry Christmas flist (for those who celebrate, anyway). Hopefully you can spend it peacefully with those you love, and maybe get a gift or two.

Sharing time!
One of my favorite Christmas songs, slightly old, but I always love it. Barenaked Ladies and Sarah McLachlan - God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen Feel free to share the song if you like it. ^_^

Also a poem that I rather like also a bit old. Cut since it's a little long.
A Soldier's Christmas )

Stay safe this holiday and if you haven't yet and have a little extra it is never too late to give to a charity. Too many people need help and not just for the holiday. Every little bit helps.

so working today has been interesting. sunday burned all the fingertips on my left hand and somehow or another ended up with a few painful cuts at the tips of my finger on my right (just glad i didn't burn those fingertips). so pretty much not messing with the computer much, especially anything to deal with typing (sorry old yet newly found aim folks >.<). unfortunately, i also killed my tv this weekend so no whining and sulking about on the bed while watching tv. oh well, hopefully the cuts heal first then i could use my right hand.

i really wanted to update with more than this but can't think up what it was. oh well, back to wallowing on the bed

Not much new in my life. Lately just been working, browsing around on lj and not commenting, playing video games (decided to finish the Shadow Hearts games.. gotta decide what to play next), and watching re-runs of CSI (all of them) and NCIS. I also got my mother into the Fruits Basket anime and sorta into the manga. I'm looking for something else like that for her to watch, though she also loved Blood+ and Kyou Kara Maou.

The whole birthday thing was pretty nice. My mother baked me a carrot cake (and as I described it. Yes, with real carrots and everything) that was all types of good and makes me wish I had another birthday coming up. I'm not sure were she got the recipe from, but I'm going to have to be sure and snag it.

Otherwise life has been pretty good to me. Hopefully that keeps up, no?
danipuff: (chocopuff)
So since the last couple of entries have been all sad and panicky this one will be filled with good things that have happened that I haven't mentioned.

- I took my mother to see The Dark Knight and I'm glad she liked it since it was her late, late Mother's Day Gift (This year the theme was dates with mom. We made her kindergarten cards with the whole construction paper, glue, glitter, and crayon thing. Inside my sister made her a fake ticket for their date to go to the Reba concert and I made her a movie ticket and receipt for our date of dinner and movie.)

- My sister and I went to go see Stone Temple Pilots the other day. We had center floor seats so lots of fun and loudness and singing and just all around general fun. It was a good show, even with the fact that quite a few people were smoking inside the building and not just cigarettes. >.<

- We (my sister and I) just paid off on two loans. Heh, so now I can die with less money being owed. XP

- Last doctor checkup my mother had the doctor said she seemed like she was doing very good, even lost some weight so everything is happy with my mother's health.

- Hit a good amount of money saved up for the new/updated computer. Soon internet, soon.

- I made a wonderful bread pudding for my sister for her birthday. The red velvet cake was okay. First time I made it so I can do better, I think.

- My birthday is soon and I get to be old! X3

And now lots and lots of quizzes that I've seen and just now posted )

Thank you to everyone who replied to the last entry. I was just a bit frazzled but it seems to be a bit better now. It was just a little bit of a shock the stroke and unexpected (My mother is only 58 and stroke never entered our mind). We know there is a history of heart disease in the family. So we try to limit the risk factors we can with that but doing that with stroke may be hard. she already has high blood pressure and we can't stop being black so no fixing those much.

Anyway she is home now and doing very well. Very little after affects from the stroke (just a mild one). At the hospital she had some slurring of words but now barely notice any slur at all (not that you can notice it over our southern Illinois accent XD). The doctors think she had the stroke on Sunday and we didn't get any real noticeable symptoms until Monday. She did have a headache on Sunday and was a little bit lethargic, but besides that there weren't any signs until Monday when my sister noticed the right side of her face was "melting" and slurring of words. Sadly by the time we did get her to the hospital it would've been too late for them to give her drugs if it had been serious. The doctors also said it was her first stroke when they gave her the MRI, and we were glad and wondered how weird it would've been if it hadn't been her first.

Nothing else to say, just I'm so happy that she is okay and out of the hospital.

god, this day will not end. been in at the hospital all day. my mom had a stroke but when i left she was doing better. my sister is there with her now and will spend the night and i get her tomorrow. so right now i'm very jittery and all over the place. doesn't help that the house is all too silent and i have no clue what to do with myself. i think i'm hungry but just don't feel like cooking anything or doing much, but also want to do something so maybe posting here will calm me down? who knows? maybe i should've stopped and got food on the way home, but don't trust myself out right now. my heart is still pounding, though i know she's doing lots better. very little slurred speech and, as my sister put it, "face melting." maybe music will help with the soothing or not. might just take a nap and go back to the hospital later. they said it would b okay so might end up doing that or not. god, i just really have no clue what to do with myself right now.
danipuff: (poo)
Hahaha so last night was take trash out to curb for tomorrow night. When we, sister and I, finished and were walking back up to the house we saw on of the OHMYHODAMN!giant spiders in the driveway. Sister went to get bug spray, thank god, and I went to step. We I stepped on it lots of little black things ran off of it. Sister saved me from lots of girly screaming by spraying it and them. We convinced ourselves that it was ants and they were fighting the spider. Looked this morning and it wasn't. It was bitty spiders. Ughhhhh~ *shudders* I will not be able to sleep tonight. Baby spiders everywhere. Ughhhh...

Also there has been more on the fight to make verizon let us go front. We got a final bill from verizon and just assumed it was a final bill since it had final bill on it in several places. I know how utterly stupid of us. What were we thinking reading the bill and believing it? We sent them that amount on the bill that claimed to be final. A few weeks later we get a bill for our internet services that we canceled months ago. Come to find out one of those times that verizon randomly decided to turn off our services they started up a whole new account instead of renewing our old one. So we basically had two interent accounts with them for some unknown period of time and had been paying for both. They gave us a refund on the other account that we had no idea about. Sometime later, or what I call last week, we get the check and added into that is the amount we paid to settle the final bill. This week we get a letter from them saying we owe them money, the same amount we paid previously and they refunded us for. Also? They sent it to a creditor since it's taken forever for us to pay it. Of course, it took us forever to pay it! It took you guys forever to give us the amount we had to pay and when we gave you the damn money you sent it back! Not to mention that we called several times to inquire about the same damn bill and you guys said just wait until you get it! We got it! We paid it! YOU sent us the damn money back! EVERY TIME we have sent you guys money to settle ANY of this damn bill, you guys sent it back to us. *sighs* I LOATHE verizon. I'm wondering if it is even worth it to call and say something about them sending the bill so late and refunding the amount we paid then demanding we pay it again? Right now I just want to do anything to not have to deal with verizon again.

I get that the city must test the tornado siren's every 1st Tuesday of the month at the same exact time for all the tornado season. I understand that we did not have a tornado going on so technically it was "okay." But someone think it might not be a good idea since we were in the middle of a severe thunderstorm and under a tornado watch (that had just been extended) at the time that maybe... maybe this might freak out some people? I know it did me, especially since I had been watching the weather channel earlier and they had mentioned that we are probably beating the record amount of tornado in a season already. For those who want to know, I think it was 900+ tornadoes in the US so far (if we hit 1000 do we get a prize?).

Also ran into my first attack spider of the season. I think it was a wolf spider, but i didn't really look with all the screaming and rolling around. Although it's funny now since I know the windows were open and anyone outside got to hear me curse like a sailor and scream all high-pitched and girly like all at the same time.

Doesn't the description above sound like one of the sci-fi channel's movies? I'm still giggling over Aztec Rex (A T-Rex dropped down on the Aztec? why is this not in theaters?). Though Aztec Rex wasn't as bad as it sounded. Not that I watched it or anything... yeah. >.>;

I hate when you have a free program and they have all the perks you would have if you had the paid version and they just leave them there. Like they are showing you what you can have if you weren't cheap and/or poor. Not like you have to rub in the whole no extra money thing. I don't need your shiny money perks anyways. My poor, free version suits me just find. Yes, I keep clicking on your shiny perks but that's because they are stupid, and, um, I want to show how stupid they are.. /silly non-perkage person

We found a cute little itty, bitty baby snake in our sump pump hose. I think he was as surprised to find us as we were to find him, especially since we though he was on the other side of the house in Dude's, our ground squirrel(s), old hole next to the tree. Of course, we've not seen him around that side of the house since. Hopefully we didn't scare him off.

Also keep meaning to post here about all types of things and babble my head off, but I keep getting distracted but video games. I have the attention span of a gnat at a picnic~
danipuff: (UGH - freebird)
Oh dear sweet Verizon,

Why do you keep sending us checks for amounts that you keep billing us for? We understand how you might not get that we have dropped all your services by the fact that every time you send us a bill we call and tell you to piss off. We understand how hard it may be for you to understand how we want to be let go, but sometimes you just have let go. It wasn't you. It was us. We just aren't ready for your type of services, that's all. Maybe someday we can afford to be with a company like you, but for now we are trying out your cheaper cousins. Besides, we're no big loss. We were always late and complained all the time. We are sure you can do much, much better than us. Really. We don't need your money or you to keep nagging us about money. So just let us go. Everyone will just be happier that way.

With fond regrets,
Ex-Verizon Household

I was listening to the radio some morning (either yesterday or today) and the weather report called for thunderstorms, with some being severe later in the evening, winds, heavy rain at times, and a possibility of hail and tornadoes. WTF? Possibility of tornadoes?!?!?!

I still think the best weather day so far this year was sometime last month when we had spring (april showers yay!), summer (hot sun okay?), fall (wasn't it just hot and sunny out?), and winter (wtf?!?!  is that ice falling out of the sky?) all in one day.  Oh midwest weather, how I love thee.
danipuff: (chocopuff)
So besides the whole water being accidentally cut off thing we've had a few other weird things going on.

- Car was driving up and down the street taking pictures of between the houses (stopped and took a picture between our house and the neighbor)
- Two companies, Verizon and Gas, have come and put down little flags in our backyard too show where their lines/cables/pipes/etc. are. These typically are those little flags you get if someone is going to dig.
- We called JULIE, an Illinois (?) organization that you call before digging (if i remember it all correctly they basically make it easier to know what is under the ground if you're digging or whatever), and they have no clue. As far as they know no one should be digging so confused as to why any company has come out.
- We had an ambulance, fire truck, and police car up the street just the other night. That was a noisy night.
- Getting some new plants to put. Can't remember the name for the life of me.
- My sister had the JOY of drinking her soda and finding it moving in her mouth. Apparently ants LOVE soda.
- Getting my sister hooked on PoT (prince of tennis) was the best thing ever

And a cute little thing. I am a banananananana.

You Are a Banana

Image

You are mellow, easy going, and a total softie on the inside.
People find it really easy to get along with you. You suit most tastes.

And while you're very sweet, you're not boring or ordinary.
You have an attraction to the exotic, and you could show up anywhere... doing almost anything!

You are spirited, energetic, and a total kick to be around.
You're also quite funny. Your sense of humor is on the goofy side, and it fits you well.

Dear Midwestern United States Region,

I can take the floods.  I can take the thunderstorms.  I can take the tornadoes.  I can take the winds.  I can take the cold.  I can take the occasional "thundersnow".  Hell, I can even take winter going on into April.  I cannot take earthquakes early in the morning when I am sleeping.  Not only does it make me think that I am crazy, but it's just not the best way to wake up.

Definitely awake,
Dani

Dear Sad Life,

So is it not enough that I had to have a sucky day yesterday?  It started out with finding out that the water company turned off our water for no reason at all (someone got turn off happy? has to be since no one else in the neighborhood was supposed to get their water cut off so there was no reason for them to be out here) and ended up with me on the floor.

All I ask for is another day that doesn't end up with me on my face.  Is that too much to ask?

She who kisses floors,
Dani

It's been a while since I posted anything on here. Many factors as to why so I'll just babble a few random thoughts as usual.

- Really need to post more as i type out entries but somehow they never get posted.
- Ding dong verizon's gone. I realized I really had to do something when $90 of my $92 bill was them charging for phone services plus the $20+ a month for online services. maybe it wouldn't have mattered if we actually used the phone.
- of course it took forever to get rid of verizon. not to mention a whole point in time in which we had no internet or phone for a month or so while they told us that everything was working only to call them two weeks later (after waiting that long to see if the service call we set up would actually, you know, show up) to find out they cut it off after taking money out (for the net services at least) to have them restart our service and keep pushing the start date off further and further and when it finally did come them telling us it worked when it didn't and saying it wasn't their fault (of course doing this time, almost a month later, they finally sent out someone who told us everything was okay) when it obviously wasn't our fault.
- i wonder if my hate for my mother's doctor is valid. she does seem to be getting worse under his care but it could just be because of her moving or age or whatever. it still doesn't excuse the fact that he put her on a new medication and the first few times she described her side effects and visited him he didn't recognize that she had gout.
- my trees and plants and bushes are budding. even the burning bushes that the damn rabbits nibbled away to barely nothing seem to still be alive. someone from my sister's job gave us a rose tree to plant. i might look into that soon.
- i babble a lot and as i type what i babble i forget to use punctuation, capitalization, and my brain.
- i have been on a shoujo manga kick for a while but finally started getting back into other things.
- i had a lot of other things to say but most of it was just whining so no need!
- i hope that the rain passes quickly and quietly over the rest of the midwest and stop to give us a break for a while so water levels can go down in rivers and such. not as bad for us but i know the midwesterners to the south could really use a break on wet weather and storms.
- i really love lego star wars to death.
danipuff: (poo)
can we have winter over now? please?

we are getting a pretty nice storm here today and into tomorrow. it's cold with snow blowing and generally all around nasty and cold out. OF COURSE our furnace decides it won't work now. now that it's late and the roads are hell and we are flat out too poor to get it fixed. luckily i washed clothes early today so i have lots of clean clothes to wear and get warm in. sleeping tonight is going to be fun.

hahaha... it's 20 °F and feels -4 °F (i wonder how do they decide how the weather feels like?), or -7 °C and -20 °C. so much fun. ...yeah...
danipuff: (haku and masks)
just a little depression to get out of the way.. heck, i doubt it's coherent )

The weather is no help at all, either. My sister told me it was 55 °F(about 12 to you °C folk) with severe thunderstorms here one day and in the same day later it was 4 °F(about -15 °C) with blowing snow and ice (thanks to the earlier thunderstorm). Friday we have a chance of 6-9 inches of snow. So leaving and getting back is going to be interesting.

So, yeah, besides dealing with that I had my interview last week. Hopefully no one called during that time I wasn't at home. If they did then I might just be SOL. I'm thinking after friday I might just want to sleep for a week.
