Scary Movie

Image

Our kids both love to watch Snow White right now. Mason has the "dig, dig, dig" and "Hi Ho" songs memorized and it's fun to see him sing and dance along. He also does the "brrr, brrr, brrr" face washing thing.

Although they both beg to watch it and could watch it 10 times in a row, they still hide when the witch and mirror scenes come on.  This is Tristyn bunkering down between the couch and chair to protect herself! I'm not sure if she learned it on her own or from watching Mason hide, but either way it's cute!

Up the Hill

Mason didn't mind the long climb back up the sledding hill . . . he sang and recited poems! Love this kid!

Higbee Christmas Party

It was our turn to be in charge of Dan's family Christmas party this year. Thank goodness for hookups . . . we got a great deal on my sister's friend's cabin in Bear Lake! We had a blast hanging out with the Higbee's, opening gifts, playing games, watching movies, sledding, eating, playing Wii, and just chillin'!
Pat made yummy gingerbread men and the kids had fun decorating them (or pretending to decorate them so they could sneak the candy). Mason has a Winnie the Pooh computer game where he mixes up cookies and cakes and then gets to decorate them, so he's on a kick right now where he loves to frost and decorate! He wouldn't eat the cookie, but he had fun decorating!

Image
On Sunday we went to Sacrament Meeting at the local ward and the cutest little girl, maybe 5, sang Away in a Manger with her dad and it was awesome! After getting all that religion, Mason helped Dan play cards with the boys. The cabin didn't have a DVD player, so the kids survived by watching movies on my laptop.

Image
On Saturday we all went sledding. Thanks to Bob for bringing his snowmobile so it was a little easier to climb up the hill! Mason was a die hard and was half way up the hill before we even turned around! He made a few snow angels and when he climbed the hill he sang "Hi Ho, Hi Ho" or recited "Jack and Jill". I recorded him saying Jack and Jill, so I'll try to post it later. Tristyn was so mad when we put her hat on and was livid when we put boots and gloves on her! He hated not being able to move and she must have been a little tired because she fell asleep while we were sledding. After she woke up I put her on a sleigh even though she didn't want to. She actually tolerated being pulled around a little. They were both cute little snow bunnies.

Image
On Friday night everyone was there but poor Brandie, who couldn't get off work, and her fiance. It was fun having everyone together for gifts and dinner. We wish they could have all stayed for the full weekend.

Image
Thanks everyone for taking time to spend the weekend with us! It was a great way to kick off Christmas week!

Brunette

I was heading out to get my hair done on Dec 17th. I had been trying to decide what I should do with the color and I asked Dan if he thought I should go dark. He thought about it for about 1/2 a second before he dared me to do it! Geeze, how did I even have a choice after that?? So, I now belong to the dark side . . .

Preschool Program

Image
On Dec 15th, Mason had his 2nd preschool Christmas program! He participated a little better this year than last, but was still distracted that I was there to watch! He kept putting his hands up to his eyes like binoculars and looking over at us. He did dance, clap, and sing during some of the songs and I think his favorite was Jingle Bells since they got to shake bells. It's the only Christmas song I heard him sing around the house (although in the past couple of days he has been singing 'asleep, asleep, asleep, asleep' from Away in a Manger. Not sure where he learned that from!

The teachers do a great job with the kids and it's fun to see what they put together!

'Boxy' Chic

Tristyn loves playing with boxes and especially likes climbing inside with her dogs, blankets, and whatever other toys she can fit. Here she is collecting decorations from the tree to put in the box.

Image
Image

Image
She actually fell on the edge of the box while trying to climb in and got her first shiner! You can see that it's a little red under her right eye.

Update Blitz Part 2

Tristyn attended Nursery for the first time in early December. This is her first Nursery picture. I can't believe she's already that old! They said she did well. She was sick the week after that, then we were out of town, so when we went back last week she was out of practice and I had to stay in there with her. I'm hoping she'll let me sneak out this week!

Image
The weekend after Thanksgiving I did a Miche booth with Julie at Novemberfest. Dan was a saint to watch the kids on Thursday evening and all day Friday and Saturday. I bought this cute train as a project for him to do with Mason, but I guess he didn't dare dive in on his own! He ended up doing it a few days later at home. He loved it and surprisingly only ate a few of the candies in the process. He did sneak a few pieces off over the several weeks it was on the counter! It was his 'gingerbread train'.

Image
These are the photos my sister Suzy took of us at the Thanksgiving party. It was dang cold and the kids weren't cooperating very well, otherwise it would have been a whole photo shoot instead of a few shots at the church. I think they turned out great, though. I especially like the photo of the kids holding hands. Precious!

Blog Update Blitz

You all know that I haven't neglected my blog lately! Well, since I'm neglecting bags for a couple of weeks, I figure it's a great time to post a few things! Hang in there since I have a lot to say!
These photos are backwards in the date taken:
Thanksgiving, Nov 26th, we at Golden Corral with some of Dan's family. It was a nice break from cooking and cleaning all day, but I did miss having my mom's yummy leftovers! It's the first time I've ever gone out for Thanksgiving. I think I prefer a family event at home, but could handle doing this every few years!

Image

On November 21st, we had a family party with the Jenkins's to celebrate Thanksgiving as well as my mom's 60th birthday! We had way more food than we could ever eat and it was awesome! We sang Happy Birthday and blew out the candle in a pumpkin pie. Althoug it's a zoo, I love getting together with my family and wish we could do it more often! My brother Danny was a trooper and lifted all the little kids clear up to slam dunk the ball. He was Mason's best friend that day! We also recorded a video to send to Charlie on his mission and had Suzy take a few snapshots of the family for Christmas cards. They turned out cute.
Image
I hadn't given in to all the Twilight hype, but since New Moon came out on my birthday, I got a bunch of tickets and planned a girl's night out to see it. Well, I really wanted to read the first book and watch the movie before I saw New Moon, I started them and ended up reading all four books in 2 1/2 weeks. It was a lot of very late nights to get through them! I loved the movie (especially Jacob) . . . probably mostly because it was a night out with the girls. The acting was a little better than Twilight and I hope it's better for Eclipse. My computer was having issues at work that day, so I had to leave it with the IT guy for a while, forcing me to do what any other girl would do . . . . go to the mall! That's why I'm wearing the vampire shirt. It was a birthday gift to myself! During the show I almost crossed out vampire and changed it to wolf!

Image
Nov 15th: This is Mason's first snow tower of the season. Dan helped him make it with a snow brick maker. He was so proud of it!

Image
November 10th: Mason likes to go to the front door when we come home. A lot of times I'd open the door to this. It was so sad when the cold weather killed all the flowers! I hope he does it again next spring! Such a sweatheart!

Dan had a Christmas party at work today with white elephant gifts. He
was surprised to see this come out of one of the packages! I'm so glad
he has a BFF @ work!

Holiday Wishes from Rhode Island

I love this time of year when everyday I can open the mailbox and find Christmas Greetings from friends and family. It’s great to see how families have changed from year to year and to read ‘family letters’. I’m always a little sad after Christmas when the daily mail changes back to just ads and credit card offers!

Today I received what I think will be my favorite card of the season . . . it’s from my brother, Charlie, and his missionary companion! It was very unexpected and it’s awesome to see that they are getting along well enough to even consider printing and sending a photo card! It reminds me of Ross and Mona on Friends when he’s not sure if they’re in a ‘place’ in their relationship where they should be sending holiday cards . . . funny!

Image

Hopefully the photo will come through so you can see their cute card! It says:

Holiday Wishes From the Ghetto

Love, Elder Rapp and Elder Jenkins

Gotta love this kid! He’s down to less than 6 months! Can’t wait to talk to him on Christmas!

Aliens???

Shortly after midnight last night, Dan saw a super bright light outside. He grabbed his shotgun thinking it was aliens coming to return him to his homeland.  It turns out it was just a meteor!

He told me about it this morning and said he got up to peek outside, but couldn’t see anything that would have caused the light (a street light from the freeway, our motion sensors out back, etc). It was a few minutes later that I saw the story on the news about the meteor. Here’s a link to KSL’s story: http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=8714738.

I had just put New Moon down and closed my eyes at midnight, so unfortunately I missed all the excitement!  No worries . . . I was dreaming about Edward and Jacob!  Can’t wait to see them on the big screen tomorrow at midnight!

I wanted to post really quickly about Mason's birthday! I can't believe our baby boy turned 4 yesterday (I can call him that as long as Dan's mom calls him her baby boy)! He is such a joy in our lives and somehow knows how to push all of our buttons and melt our hearts in the same minute! He learns so quickly and is communicating better every day!

Since his birthday was on a Sunday, we celebrated on Saturday (also Halloween), by going to the Dinosaur Park. The kids were a little scared of the mechanical dinosaurs and didn't dare get close enough for a photo. They did love all the fossils and the dinosaur statues they have outside. The playground kept them busy for a while too! Tristyn kept laying down on the floor when we wanted to move on and she didn't or when she didn't want to get to close to a display. Mason loved the pteranodon (spelling??) slide. He has been watching Dinosaur Train a lot lately and I think the 'dinosaur birds' are his favorite right now. It was awesome that he could point to a lot of the displays and know which dinosaur it was. I wish I could remember them all!

The kids went trick or treating that night. Tristyn actually carried her own bag around and Mason took good care of her by taking one piece of candy for himself and one for her (he did that at my work the day before too). He also had a blast handing out one tiny piece of candy to each person that knocked on our door! Because of that, we ended up with tons of left over candy!

Dan and I decided to make his cake this year and since he was a dinosaur/dragon for Halloween, we found a dinosaur display to put on the cake. Mason helped mix up the rainbow chip cake. He likes to read the back and tell us what ingredients to add--he's especially helpful with the eggs (funny since they are so slimy and he'd never eat one!). After he went to bed we put it all together and he loved it! We couldn't keep his hands off of it while we waited for dinner. My dad's birthday is today, so my parents, Suzy's family, and Melissa came over for dinner. It was a lot of fun to have them here to help celebrate. Mason loved having them here too.

Mason got a few dinosaur toys for his birthday and his fishing pole was actually a birthday gift too! We should pulled it out to remind him! He had a blast fishing with Dan a couple of weeks ago (see video on prior post).
I have a ton of other photos from the past few weeks that I want to post--I just wanted to be sure to post a few photos from his special weekend! Mason had a fun time and loved to have so much attention. It didn't take him long to figure out that he's 4 instead of 3. We have a Happy Birthday banner up and he referred to the letters on it while writing Happy Birthday in grandpa's card! It was cute. He's getting really good and copying words and writing!
Enough for now . . . more to come!

Mason's First Fishing Trip

Mason really wanted to go fishing for his birthday (I know, it's a week early), so we took him to get a little fishing pole on Friday night and Dan took the kids fishing Saturday while I did a boutique in Rexburg.  The kids both had a blast!  Here's one of the several videos he took . . . I'll try to post the others as well.

Mas has been watching Dinosaur Train a lot lately and they go 'fishing' for food, which is where this all came from. He'll put piles of pillows on the floor to make a big pond and fish in them for 'big fish'.  He also thinks we have 'great eyesight' when we can see the fish!

His idea or ours???

Mason has always had a way of twisting something that is his idea so that suddenly it seems like your idea! Lately he will say something like "hide and seek" and when I ask "do you want to play hide and seek?", he'll say "um, well . . . okay!" He pretends like he really had to think about it first and kind of says it like he's not really excited about it. He used to just say "um, okay", but the past few days he's been throwing "well" into just about every sentence!

I wish I could pull the same stunt with Dan. Like if I said "Hawaii" and he'd say "you want to go to Hawaii?". I'd answer with "um, well . . . okay" and make him think he had come up with the idea.

Last week I mentioned that he needed a haircut and immediately he started asking for suckers (which we use to distract him during the cut). He was ready to put on his shoes and get in the car to go get his haircut. He really, really wanted a sucker I guess! Too bad we had to schedule it and he'll have to wait until this Thursday for that sucker!

He is also monopolizing our fridge! He's so proud of his artwork that he puts about 9 magnets around it on the fridge before it's even dry. I'm glad he knows that we enjoy his creativity!

Boutique this weekend / Home party next week!

On Friday and Saturday I'll be doing a Miche Bag and Close to my Heart booth with my sister, DanaRae, in Centerville. There will be tons of other cute vendors and they are giving away over $500 in raffle prizes!
Image

Also, next Tuesday (Oct 20th), I will be having a combined Miche/Discovery Toys party at my home. It will be an open house from 6:30 - 9:00 pm, but the Discovery Toys rep will be doing her presentation at 7 pm. They have so many cute toys that would be perfect Christmas or birthday gifts for your kids, grandkids, or whatever kids you know! They're fun and educational, which is a bonus!

It will also be a great opportunity to see the trendy Miche Big Bag and cute new October shells! Please let me know if you plan to come by!

If you can't make it, but are interested in either product let me know! You can check out the Discovery Toys products at

September Update, Part III (of 3)

Baby Animals galore . . . Hogle Zoo was buzzing this year with everyone anxious to see the new little baby elephant and giraffe! They were sooo cute! As in the past, Mason wasn't real thrilled with the animals at first, but then he liked looking in the displays to see what he could find. There were a few he was scared of (the black bear, the elephants, and the huge cockroaches in the rain forest), but he liked to watch the monkeys and even tolerated the giraffes long enough for a photo! When we went on the Merry-go-round, he went straight for the peacock bench, but someone was already there, so he actually sat on the big giraffe! Tristyn was asleep so he used her ticket to go back, but that time would only sit on the sled. At least he had fun! I think his favorite thing is always the train. Tristyn liked it all! She loved watching the elephants and pretty much everything that was close enough to see. Luckily, she had a little nap in between so she was in a great mood! It was nice to get out and spend some time in the sun before it got cold!
Image
Last weekend Melissa and Dan played catch out back with Mason. Well, it was more keep away than anything. Mostly Mason liked to get the ball and have them chase him to get it. Tristyn watched them run back and forth, but for some reason didn't want to walk through the grass to play. I guess the long grass tickled too much! She did end up with a super dirty face after playing on the slide and swings (top right photo). While they were doing all this . . . I was reading Twilight! I started it the day before and wanted to get through it on that Sunday before going back to work! Since then I've also read New Moon and started Eclipse last night! I'm now an addict and need to get through them so I can concentrate on other things! We watched the movie last night--A lot of things weren't as I imagined them, but I was glad that when I read afterward that I was able to go back to the things I imagined rather than what was in the movie. I can't wait until the opening of New Moon!
Image
Not really an update for September, but Tristyn turned 16 months old on October 2nd! I can't believe she is getting so old, so big, and so smart! She has no problem getting her way has learned to sneak away and to naughty things even when we tell her no. Actually, when we tell her no she thinks it's really funny and she never stops what she's doing. She likes to copy us and shake her finger at us saying no, no, no. In the last couple of weeks she has been doing animal sounds on demand and she can do an elephant, duck, snake, dog, cat, cow, owl, frog, bunny, fish, lamb, bear, lion, dinosaur, tiger (the last four are all the same growl), monkey, and more. She says the names of a few animals too. On Friday when she heard the garage door open, she said "Dad"! Normally Mason hears it before she does and runs to the door, so it was cute that she recognized that he was home. She likes to climb on everything, most recently up on to the table. She likes to draw and gets mad when I take the pens away. I've had to scrub ink out of her shirts and off the couch, so I'm not so crazy about letting her walk around with pens! She mostly uses her left hand to color and draw, so maybe she'll be a lefty (won't be bump elbows at the dinner table?) She is getting better at going downstairs and I would almost allow her to play in the front room without the stairs being blocked (almost). She likes to dance and loves to run after Mason and be chased. She's giggly and likes to tease. The other day I was asleep on the recliner and she kept tickling my toes (maybe Dan put her up to it). She knows where her eyes, ears, nose, hair, belly button, and toes are and will also point to ours. The poor thing has been teething for what seems like months! Hopefully those nasty molers will be in soon so she'll sleep through the night! She likes to get up and watch Blue's Clue's, so I wonder if she's been faking it some nights! She's definately keeps us on our toes and is wearing us out! She's super cute and way fun, though!

Image
As mentioned earlier, Mason is talking a lot more and is getting really good with words. He'll read a few of the words in his books and he especially likes to 'do words' on our computers, where he types words into Microsoft Word. He knows a lot of them from memory, but will also get one of his first words books and will look at the word, then type it in. He likes to type his name, mom, dad, Tristyn, Go Aggies, hat, bat, cat, and more. If he doesn't know, he'll ask us what letter is next. Tonight when we were reading, he asked what a word was ('and'). Some of the pages he has memorized, but I love that he'll look at the words and relate them to what's in the picture. He is learning his part for the primary program and has 'Choose the Right' down pat! Now if he'd just repeat the rest of it! My sister Karen and her husband Steve were in town for the weekend and he had a blast playing games on their iPod Touch (and messing up the apps). Thanks for keeping him entertained, guys! He likes to paint and write words, play outside, do puzzles (he can do a new 24 piece puzzle in a few minutes), play the 'board game' (wii fit), and play with the cookie scoop! He always wants to make cookies, but just because he wants to scoop them. Eating them is only the 2nd best part for him! He also loves pulling all the cushions off the couches and making towers, trains, and 'holes' to hide in. I don't really like that game, but I'm afraid it's going to get worse as the weather gets colder! Hopefully he'll like making towers and holes in the snow! Oh, and he's great at telling Tristyn 'no, no, no'.

Dan took Steve golfing for the first time yesterday and also took him shooting. We had fun with them here, so hopefully they had a nice visit too. I have boutiques for three weekends in a row, so October is going to be crazy. I better start planning for Mason's birthday! I still can't believe that summer is over! Where does the time go???

That's my update for now! Thanks for sticking with me! You should be able to click on any of the photo collages to see them larger.

September Update, Part II

I feel like the worst mom ever that I haven't blogged about Mason's first day of preschool 2009. In my defense, it wasn't acually his first, first day . . . just his first day this fall! He went to the same preschool last year after he turned three to help with his speech delay. He did so well last year and we saw a lot of progress, so I was so glad when they approved him for 3 days a week this year! It's amazing what he picks up on and he is talking more and more every day. It's awesome to hear him use proper grammar. I don't know why he was set on wearing his blue shoes that didn't match for the first day, but oh well! He still looked super cute! He and Tristyn both love to visit the fish tank just inside the preschool door before going to class. The tag for his box is a green frog and he really likes finding it and picking out a box to store his hat and backpack. It's nice that he actually likes to wear his backpack now! Dan also started his 2nd year of Grad School a few weeks ago. I failed to get a photo of him by the front door with his back pack and ball cap. Either way, I'm proud of both my guys!
Image
My sister, DanaRae, and her family were so nice to invite me to the Keith Urban concert! Dan doesn't care for country music, so I went without him. I don't own any of his albums and only recognized a few songs, but he's nice to look at and sounds good, so I didn't mind! It was actually a great show. When he went down into the crowd, a bunch of people leaned against the guard rail to touch him and it fell over. There was a pile of people on the floor. No one would admit to being hurt, but I don't know how everyone could have been okay! The opening act was Little Big Town, who I have never heard of, but they were pretty good too. I had a great time, so thanks for letting me go with you Bennetts!
Image
A couple of weeks ago Mason wanted to play with the water bottle that I use to do his hair. Of course he just wanted to spray it at random things, but I told him he could only spray it on the counter. I then gave him a rag and he proceeded to wipe the counter off for me. I decided to also let him spray the kitchen floor! He was cleaning one square at a time, so hopefully someday I'll have a sparkling clean foor! He just needs to use a little elbow grease! I was pleased with his enthusiasm for cleaning! Toilets next???

September Updates

I'm going to attempt to catch our blog up! I have tons of photos from September (a busy month as always), so bear with me! On the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, we went to Swiss Days real quick on our way to Bear Lake. It was crazy busy at Swiss Days, so it was almost impossible to get the stroller through the crowd and even harder to get it into any booths. Luckily, that helped me avoid spending much money there! We got to Bear Lake in the late afternoon, but we were able to spend a couple of hours at the Ideal Beach Resort private beach. It was nice to have a huge area to ourselvles. Tristyn as a little hesitant in the sand to begin with, but it didn't take her long to dive in. Mason had fun running out in the water and kept saying 'so far' when he got far from shore. Dan tried and tried to build a sand castle, but Mason really enjoyed dumping water on it. We did come across a huge sandcastle that another group had left. Mason wanted to wreck it too, but luckily I got to him soon enough! The kids also had a great time at the resort playground. I think it was both kids' first time on a merry-go-round.

ImageOn Sunday we visited Diane and Emelia in Logan before they headed to SV for my nephew Braxton's birthday. Mason and Emelia are just 8 days apart, so they'll both be turning 4 soon (I don't know why I didn't take photos at breakfast--probably just trying to keep the kids under control). That evening we took grandma and grandpa Higbee's 4-wheelers out to Wellsville Reservoir to feed the ducks and play at the playground. Mason looks awesome in his helmet. I'm surprised he'll even wear it!

Image
Labor Day is when Wellsville celebrates their Founders Day, so they had festivities galore! On Monday morning we went to the parade. Mason didn't enjoy the noisy vehicles that started the parade (especially the cowboys and Indians that shot blanks). He made Dan cover his ears for the first half of the parade . . . until he realized they were throwing candy! It didn't take him long to get down in the street and grab what candy he could! Tristyn even joined in and picked up a couple of pieces herself (hmm, I just remembered that their bag of candy is still in the cupboard). When Big Blue went by, I ran out to have Dan take a photo, but Mason freaked out and arched his back away from the bull. I should have just had him say 'Go Aggies'. After the parade we let Mason go on a few of the carnival type rides. He loved the little ride that shot him up and down (shown in the collage). He didn't do so well with the timed toys ($3 for 5 minutes)--we had to drag him out every time.

Image
We also played games with our friends, the Rigby's while we were there. It was a super fun, and super busy weekend! At least the kids slept well for a few days!

Twilight Addict!

I had completely intended to update my blog today with all of the things we've been doing over the past month or so (since I posted last) . . . but I finally started reading Twilight yesterday and have been putting everything else off today to read! I hope to get it finished tonight! The bad thing is that Melissa just dropped off New Moon, so I might be up all night reading that too! I've got a bit of a cold, so it was actually nice to just relax, read, and be sick! Too bad Monday morning reality is coming quickly!

When I read about Bella passing out in Biology when they tested their blood it reminded me immediately of when I did the same thing! I'm a wimp, I know! It's not the sight of blood . . . it's the smell (sound familiar?) Not the smell of the blood though, it's the smell of the alcohol wipes that make me sick! Too bad that I didn't have a vampire to carry me to the nurse! Luckily, I did have a great friend that took care of me!

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I already have tickets to go with a bunch of friends to the premier of New Moon (I think I'll have a couple of extra tickets, so let me know if you want to come!). I turn 31 that day, but I hope I can party all night like back in college! Oh, the good old days of being young!

Updating my blog is still on my list . . . I just may need to get through the other three books in the series first! My friend Amy joked that I'm the last person in Utah to read them! Yeah, I'm a slacker!

In the dentist chair . . .

Image

Mason is loving watching Handy Manny at the dentist. He didn't like it when the girl tried to polish his teeth. Hopefully the dentist can get to them! He wants the chair to go up and down.

Update:

Mason did NOT want to let the dentist look at his mouth either. Fortunately, I was in the chair in the other room and it was up to Dan to hold him down while they did the polishing. They found 2 cavities :-( Poor guy! We have to take him back in a few weeks and he'll have to be sedated in order to get them filled. There's no way they'd let him do the work without it--even if he can watch Handy Manny! I guess we'll have to be strict about no bedtime snacks after teeth brushing!

He did get to ride the chair up and down and got to pick a prize for "being good" (I'm sure they say that to all the kids). He picked a mini flashlight. We bought a couple at Walmart over the weekend, so he's been walking around with all three flashlights on.

Someday he'll cooperate . . . someday!

Squeak, squeak, squeak

Here's a video of the squeaky shoes I bought Tristyn at Swiss Days. They're super cute now, but I'm sure I'll be ready to shoot myself before she grows out of them! Thank goodness for the silencing plugs!

I wish I had video of when I first put them on her last night--she thought they were the coolest thing ever and it was funny to watch her take each step and revel in the noise she was making. She's a shoe fanatic and likes to go 'shopping' in our basket of shoes. She's already pretty good in heels. A girl after my own heart!

What we've been up to . . .

Just to catch up on a few things from the past couple of weeks:

We went to Bear River Mutual's 100th Anniversary party and the kids loved it! They had a yummy dinner, cotton candy, popcorn, and sno cones. Mason loved all the 'rides' (blow up playlands) and especially liked the miniature golf. After spending a few hours there, we stopped by the primary activity for a bit.

We had Suzy, Kambry and Melissa over for Cafe Rio and to play in the back yard. We had the ice cream truck stop for the first time and Mason picked the batman popsicle. He actually had a few good licks before it melted on the plate. Tristyn had a blast riding in the Jeep with Kambry and she even learned to push the pedal on her own.

The fun teachers at day care must feel bad for Tristyn since I never take time to fix her hair in the morning. So, occasionally she comes home with super cute hairdos. I love that her hair is long enough to do fun things with and just wish she'd hold still so I could fix it!

We skipped out on the Jenkins reunion at Grey's River because the weather wasn't going to be great. So, Melissa and I decided to make jam to send to Charlie in Rhode Island. I made strawberry and a couple of batches of peach and Melissa helped me make peach raspberry. So yummy! Too bad both batches of rolls I attempted to make for Charlie turned out terrible! I need practice baking bread (notice that I didn't include the photo of the rolls).

After several months of waiting, the day of the Poison/Def Leppard concert finally arrived! We had a great time with Melissa, our friend Ryan, and Dan's brothers Ric and Dave. The bass guitarist for Poison has a home by Ric's property in Mtn Green, but unfortunately he was sick that night so one of Bon Jovi's old band members filled in for him. I haven't seen that many tattoos and mullets since we went to Lagoon!

ImageIn honor of Bret Michaels, I pulled out the bandanas and the kids rocked out. This was the last photo before Dan shaved his facial hair (he was teaching a church lesson and also starting back at BYU).

This is Dan with just a 'stache. A little too Tom Selleck . . . he had it for about 10 hours.

We found this super cute 'dinosaur' (dragon) costume at Costco and I really hoped it would fit Mason for Halloween. As you can see, it's way too small, but he still had fun roaring while wearing it. Tristyn roared right back. I may put it on her one of these days!

ImageKaren and Steve came to town to celebrate her birthday. They invited us to join them at Tucano's and it was soooo good! Thanks Dan for staying with the kids! Afterward we say The Proposal for the third time . . . so funny!

ImageWe took corn on the cob to a BBQ the other night and had a ton left over. I gave some to the kids the next day and Tristyn loved it! Mason also held it and nibbled a little bit, but no bites. He has loved helping us pick peas and apples from our mini garden and actually ate one single pea the other night. At least it's a start. He does like the apples from the tree even though they're a bit tart! The corn on the cob came from Dan's parent's garden. We were there last Sunday to celebrate his mom and brother's birthday.

ImageToday Dan started his 2nd year of grad school. This is his official 'first day of school' photo. It was also the official start of the college football season and USU got womped by U of U. Mason and Dan still showed their Aggie pride and Mason has been saying 'Go Aggies' all day. Maybe it's time to introduce him to the bull in Logan!

ImageAnd as if I need one more thing to occupy my time . . . I signed up to sell Miche Bags. Dan's sister, Julie, signed up a couple of weeks ago and she talked me into doing it with her. I've been maintaining her blog for her and am not sure when I'll get my own blog going--especially since I just created one for CTMH. Feel free to visit her blog by clicking the Miche link to the right. We are doing a booth at Novemberfest in Logan Thanksgiving weekend and I'll be doing a table for CTMH at a neighbor's house in a few weeks. So, wish me luck in squeezing that all in!

Mason starts preschool again next week so we went to an open house this week to meet his teachers. He still wants to go to his old classroom, but I think he'll transition okay. I'm grateful for the progress he's made in communicating since he started last November. He likes to type words on the computer using Word or Notepad. He'll type them from memory or copy words that are put in front of him. His favorite saying right now is "not yet".

We took Tristyn for her 15 month appointment this morning and she was 20 lbs 3 oz and 31 1/4" tall. I can't believe she's already that old! She's climbing and running and teasing and doing everything a healthy 15 month old does. She was super mad after her shots and I felt so bad. Mason had his flu shot as well . . . it's a good thing they're quick to forgive! Tristyn still likes dogs and will put her lips together to make the 'm' sound when we ask what a kitty or cow says. She'll say 'all done' and 'oh no' (mostly when eating). She loves it when Mason kisses her goodnight--it's so cute!

So, there you go! Thanks for reading!
