Die Astronauten Hadfield und Marshburn gehören zur ISS-Expedition 34/ISS-Expedition 35. Der unbemannte russische Raumtransporter „Progress“ M-19M, der am 24. April 2013 an der Spitze einer Sojus-U-Trägerrakete vom Weltraumbahnhof Baikonur/Kasachstan mit rund 2,5 Tonnen Treibstoff, Nahrungsmittel und privater Post zur Internationalen Raumstation (ISS) gestartet war, hat am 26. April 2013 am russischen “Swesda”-Modul der ISS angedockt.  Das Andock-Manöver dauerte fast zehn Minuten länger als normal. Eine Antenne hatte sich nach dem Start am Mittwoch nicht geöffnet. Versuche der Leitzentrale, das Teil per Funk zu aktivieren, schlugen fehl. Auf der ISS hatten sich die russischen Kosmonauten Roman Romanenko und Pawel Winogradow auf einen möglichen Ausstieg ins All vorbereitet, um den Transporter notfalls per Hand heranzuziehen. Der Transporter wird bei Verlassen der ISS Abfall von der Raumstation mitnehmen. Er soll am 11. Juni von der ISS abdocken und dann in der Erdatmosphäre verglühen.

Die Astronauten Hadfield und Marshburn gehören zur ISS-Expedition 34/ISS-Expedition 35. Die beiden russischen Kosmonauten Pawel Wladimirowitsch Winogradow und Roman Jurjewitsch Romanenko haben am Freitag einen Außenbordeinsatz absolviert. Der Weltraumspaziergang dauerte rund sechseinhalb Stunden. Die beiden Kosmonauten brachten unter anderem Reflektoren für den europäischen unbemannten, nicht wiederverwendbaren Weltraumfrachter ATV-4: „Albert Einstein“ an, der im Juni an der Internationalen Raumstation (ISS) andocken soll. Sie befestigten auch ein Messgerät für Plasmawellen und für den Einfluss von Weltraumwetter.
