• FOSDEM 2026, 31 January—1 February 2026 in Brussels, Belgium. I’m presenting on how to extend Markdown without tears and MCing the Tool the Docs developer room alongside Ariel Kaiser.

• State of the Docs 2026 launch party, 3 February 2026 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I’m joining a panel discussion hosted by Adyen, GitBook, and Write the Docs Amsterdam about what’s new in making and maintaining documentation.

• Write the Docs Berlin 2025, 27-28 October 2025 in Berlin, Germany. I co-hosted the Welcome Wagon for first-time attendees of a Write the Docs conference, reprising my role at Write the Docs Prague 2018 through 2022. I was glad to meet so many engaged and excited attendees and I hope I’ll see you at another Write the Docs event soon.

• Open Source Summit Europe, 25-27 August 2025 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Erin McKean and I presented a talk on new resources that help open source maintainers make and maintain documentation.

Here are a few things I’ve been working on recently:

• Delete Your Content — To help you make your best content stand out, I’ve created Delete Your Content, an educational product to help you inventory your docs.

• Documentation project archetypes, documentation maturity audit, and Google Season of Docs — I’ve worked with the Google Season of Docs team to create two resources to help open source software maintainers create documentation and work more effectively with technical writers. Check out the documentation maturity audit and the documentation project archetypes to learn more.

• Write the readable README — Write a README file that gives readers confidence in your project with my open source checklist.

• Baseline and web-features — As part of my client work, I work with the W3C WebDX Community Group to create and maintain Baseline and web-features, tools to help developers understand the capabilities of the web platform across browsers.

• Write the Docs community chat — I’m a moderator for the Write the Docs community chat. Join other “documentarians” on Slack!
