oh family, words can not express how much the Lord has blessed us this last trasfer. it has been one miracle on another. not only was brother Mincks baptized but so was Alfred burrnet, brenda and Kira Robinson and Karrysia Garner. it was the best baptism ever. there was 67 people that attended the baptism. Bishop Thornton said that when this ward was created less than a year ago there was about that many that would come to church. so you can imagine not only how incredible the support was but also how much this area is growing. i love you all.

brother minks got baptized

I wanted to share a wonderful story about Dennis Minks who was baptized on Saturday. He and his wife have been married for 37 years and he has never even stepped in an LDS church before. We began to teach them and he began to read the Book of Mormon. i have such a strong testimony in that book, it really changes lives. He began to love it and couldnt seem to put it down. every time we came over he would have a bunch of new markers in his book. it was so neat to see him change. But he still had some questions. At the end of his baptism he shared his experience on how he found his answer. he said that one day he was walking his dog and he decided to ask God if these things were true. he ask 3 questions. First is Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, nest if the Book of Mormon was a true book and one other which i dont know. he said that following the close of his prayer he had an amazing feeling come over him, then it would leave and come again. it did this three times, one for each of his questions. he knew then that he could no longer deny that he knew this gospel was true.
i love that story with all my heart. the spirit is real. it teaches truth to the humble seekers of truth.
i love you all.

i felt like i was there

i just spent about 20 min looking through the pictures that julie sent me of cindy's wedding. wow everyone looked so great. i smiled through the whole thing. i actually felt like i was there. there were so many pictures of before, during and after the wedding that i felt like i was able to get a fill for the whole event. i so badly wished i could have been there but im confident that you all missed me:)
i was going to write you about a wonderful family that i am teaching but i ran out of time because i spent the time looking at those wonderful pictures. my heart is full right now. i have seen you all and everyone lookes so happy. i am so gratful to be in a family like ours. we really are so blessed. can i just say that we have the cutest babies in this family. i am so amazed at how cute they are. this has nothing to do with being biased, they are just beautiful children. cindy was the bride of every girls dream. she looks so happy. her happiness radiates through the picture. i cant wait till some man makes me feel that way;) did i just say that out loud? hahhahaha i havent changed. being a missionary is the best thing i have ever done but i have the feeling that being a wife and mother will be even better.
i love you all with all my heart. thanks for your prayers and for missing me. you all BETTER misss me:) hehehee

new years goals:)

i have two new gaols for the new year. are you ready for this? one of them is crazy and im way excited about it and the othere one is more serious.
the crazy one is.... i went off sugar! yeah for being crazy.
im really excited about it and im totally dedicated to it. i still eat granola bars and jams and stuff like that just no deserts. my companion has complete faith that i can do it and that helps. Sister Kinyon is always building me up.
the serious one is.... im going to re read the Book of Mormon and hightlight all references to my Savior and His atonement. i just finished reading through it and hightlighting references to my Savior but im gonig to do it again with a new gaol in mind and that is to really focaus on the ATonement. i have been studying it for the past week and it is the best thing i have ever done. the more i study about the Atonement the more i love my Savior. i feel like i cant get enough of studying about Him. it has changed my view on who i put my trust in, how i view other people, where i turn for my problems, how i teach people and pretty much everything. i am really excited about this new goal.
the work is going great. Satan has loosed all he has on us but we cant be moved. we know in whom we trust. he has never failed us and wont ever fail us. my prayer is that we will all use our trials to come closer to the Savior. dont pray for your trials to go away, pray to learn from them. they are for our good. this i know. i love you all so much.

we ahd so much fun yesterday. we went caroling with the whole zone. it was an incredible experience. i love the christmas season. it is so full of fun activities and opportunities to share the gospel. here are some pictures of the night. the little antlers we are wearing were giving to me from sherri in a christmas box. we got tons of compliments on them. hey look my hair is getting longer. everyone can rejoice with me:)
the other picture is the cake that was made for me on my birthday. you may think i missed out on the family halloween party but you all missed out on the cake of the century:0 it was made to look like me. i think they did a good job:)
i am happier then i have ever been. i love my mission with all my heart. i love this gospel. i love watching the way it changes lives. it really does. it is amazing. a woman called me today from another ward and ask if i would teach her daughter who is in our ward. she said she hopes the message will bless her daughter the way it has blessed her. i just loved that. it is a small phrase but it is so true.
i love you all and hope all is going well. i will talk to you all on christmas.

i met one of Joseph smiths descendents

hello family, im sorry i dont get the chance to write on this blog very much but i wanted to tell you an incredible experience i had this week. because my bishop is going to Australia, where alot of Joseph Smiths descendents are, we were able to meet Joseph Smiths great great grandaughter and here son. her son looks alot like you would imagine Joseph Smith to look like. it was amazing. we went and ate dinner with them at my Bishops house and then they did a fireside at our church that night. Her son is the first of his descendents to get his endowments in the Navoo Temple. neat huh? any way the spirit was so strong. they are the most incredible people. they have only been members for about ten years but have already done so much in helping the progression of reuniting his family. it is such an honor to be in this area where i get to see and hear about all the amazing miracle stories that have been going on. she told us stories and visions that i cant wrote on a sight that just any one can read but they have changed my perspective and testimony of Joseph Smith and this church. the work for this church is so much greater than we realize or can even fathom. there are so many behind the scene things that are happening. it is neat to learn about them all. i love being apart of this. i only wish i could do more.
i love my mission so much. i really feel like there is a reason i am here that goes beyond what i can see with my eyes. i love you all so much. take care.

aug 18, 2008

hey family. i didnt know if you have been watching the weather but i thought i would ease your mind just in case you were. yes there is a possibility of a hurricane but most likely it will just be a tropical storm and either way we are very prepared and all is well.
on to better things...
eddie weldon was baptized:)
he is a wonderful man who's wife is a member and has been praying for the missionaries for along time. then about 7 months ago the missionaries came. eddie shooed them away with a gun. (he is a cop so he can do that i guess). then his wife ask who it was, when he told her she told him to go and get them. so he humble went down the street in his cop car looking for them. he appologized and ask them to come back. he began a long lengthy study of the gospel. when we came he was getting closer but still wouldnt set a date. but because between him and the Lord he decided it was time. so last wed he was baptized. it was the most incredible baptism.
many great things are happening. the Lord is working miracles every day. i love you all. thank you for your prayers.
