Retailers are expressing frustration after a Cyber Monday outage left some Shopify merchants unable to access their stores’ backends for hours during one of the year’s busiest sales periods. Affected merchants, including Super Anime Store founder Allan Lobo, said they could not view or fulfil orders, update inventory, or send marketing emails.
Many complained the company provided little communication throughout the disruption. Shopify declined to comment beyond posts shared publicly by its support account and CEO. Some merchants say they will seek reimbursement for lost sales tied to the outage.
