End of the School Year

Standard

We moved one week before school got out. I figured this was a good time to move, since the kids would be occupied with school for one more week, while I stayed at home and unpacked. Plus, I would only have to drive them to and from school for one week (we moved out of our current school district).

What I didn’t consider were all the end of year things going on at school!

In the last week of school we had,

Meet the Author Day.
The students display some of their writings from the year, while parents come and dote on them!
Sophie wasn’t quite as enthusiastic about sharing her writing, so I wasn’t able to get a picture.

KG End of Year Party and 2nd Grade End of Year Party.
I only have pictures from Truman’s. He was thrilled to be outside with all his classmates and play outdoor games.
Sophie’s was rained out so we did movies, games, and crafts indoors instead.

Field Day.
This is one of the kids favorite days of the year. They get to do all sorts of fun relay races and games outside, plus they get snow cones where they can squirt the flavoring themselves at one of the stations.

Celebration of Learning Assembly.
No pictures from this one, but it’s always fun to see the presentation from each grade. The kindergarten class sang their traditional song about their KG year set to the tune of “The Adam’s Family”.
The second graders played a video show of themselves singing, “What a Wonderful World” in different settings and did a short presentation on the life stages of a butterfly.

Archer was happy to accompany me to all these events. He had fun running around outside on some occasions and loved having the second graders dote on him. I think his favorite was the assembly where his favorite person outside of our family (our 11 year old neighbor, Ella) was within a short walking distance. He frequently left my side to go sit with her for a few moments during the assembly. I think she enjoyed his visits as much as he did!

I didn’t get as much unpacking and organizing as I envisioned this last week of school, but I wouldn’t trade these opportunities to see the kids at school for anything.
