Visitors

Yeah! We finally got Matt's family to our brand new house for a dinner party! Most of them hadn't seen out house since it was just a foundation. They were very excited for us with our new home.

The reason for the get get together is because all the men on Matt's side of the family have birthdays in March. This particular day was to celebrate Patrick's (Matt's bro-in-law) big 29th birthday (SO old... wait I'm the same age...). Anyway, to celebrate Kristin made the best homemade cupcakes I've ever eaten! I'll have to post the recipe. I love the pink sprinkles she added for the very manly b-day cupcakes...

The evening was filled with good times and laughs, but of course the best times come with a fake guitar in hand. Matt and Patrick's talent at the fake guitar astonish me! Maybe I just need to work on my 'Rock Band Face'... Matt's is SO good...

Also, that night I think Will found his new BFF... Sparco! Sparco is a bit afraid of toddlers (I don't think I need to elaborate...), but after a bit I think they made eternal bonds of friendship.

Thanks for coming! We hope to make this a regular occurrence!

Spring

I think Spring is my favorite season. I think it's the most "hopeful", uplifting season. The days are a bit warmer, a bit longer (thank you daylight savings time, why do we ever go off daylight savings time?). Easter is in the Spring, a time to turn and think of all the wonderful things our Savior has done for us (which we should do always, but Easter is an appropriate time for an emphasis...). We can repent of old shortcomings and start fresh.

I find myself very thankful at this time in my life. I am so thankful for my family who has done so much for me as of late. There is no way I can repay them for everything that has been done for us. So, All I can say is "Thank you"!!! (you all know who you are...). I am thankful for new friends that have been so welcoming. It's nice to know that I am surrounded by such wonderful, kind people.

I am also full of hope. Matt has started his new career, and though tough right now in many ways, the sky is the limit! He is such a hard worker I can't feel anything but hope for our future. I have much hope for things to come, things that we have been wanting for for so long (no news yet, but please keep praying for us).

I am excited to be unpacking all my boxes and organizing my new home (unpacking is SO much better that packing). It's been fun to put everything in it's new place, especially knowing that it will stay there quite a while. My back yard is full of baby blades of grass! I can't wait til it's fully in (even though that means tons more yard work than we have been used to). All the blossoms are beginning to pop out on all the trees (I really need to take a couple photos, they are beautiful out here!). So far I really love living in North Carolina (except that I am SO FAR AWAY from my family, I miss you guys TONS!).

I apologize for my ramblings, but I just wanted to share what was in my heart. I hope you all enjoy this Spring season!

A Very Merry Un-Packing Party to ME!

Where are you Mom? Becka? Tara? I need you!

Last weekend Matt, Tom and I unpacked our moving trailer all by ourselves! I was SO sore. I can't even imagine how Matt and Tom felt. Tom and Matt moved all this big stuff and later Matt and I moved our 225 boxes into the house. Here's what the trailer looked like when we opened it...

So the trailer is unloaded and gone, however, nothing is where it belongs. We still need to move a lot of heavy stuff upstairs, but my goal for the weekend is to put all the boxes in the rooms in which their contents belongs and hopefully unpack the kitchen. Yes, a lofty goal, but I am all by my lonesome and it's not going to do it itself (as Matt would say). So I have been singing to myself all day long the "Very Merry Un-birthday" Song from Alice in Wonderland, but I changed the words to "A very merry un-packing day...." Unlike Alice's tea party I won't have tea and crazy cartoon characters to enjoy, I get a huge stash of old Halloween candy and a large number of filing boxes!

Imagep.s. I am SO excited to have all my stuff again! It's like Christmas (except that it's March and I already know what's in the boxes)!
