Land Acknowledgement
The director, staff, board and volunteers of Devon Public Library respectfully acknowledge the Land we are on, Treaty Six Territory and the homeland of the Métis, which encompasses the traditional and current lands and territories of the nehiyawak (Cree), niitsitapi (Blackfoot), isga (Nakota), anishinaabeg (Anishinaabe), and michif (Métis) Peoples, who are the legal caretakers and protectors of the lands and waters, and who have been here since time immemorial. We acknowledge that Devon is within the traditional lands and territories of kiskayôs (Bobtail) and maskêkosihk (Enoch Cree) First Nations. We commit to upholding our Treaty responsibilities, answering the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, and creating collections, spaces, and programs that respect and represent the diverse Indigenous histories, cultures, and traditions that are integral to the land we live on.
