Inspiration

During COVID-19 many restaurants were taken down, so cooking came about for most people. We wanted to give people new creative ideas for dishes.

What it does

It takes in two inputs -- cuisine and intolerance -- from the user via a dropdown menu and randomly generates a dish with those parameters in mind. It then provides the user with the title, summary, and picture of the randomized dish.

How we built it

We built our website using HTML, CSS, and vanilla Javascript for our tech stacks. Additionally, we used the spoonacular API for our randomly generated recipe list. We used information like titles, summaries, and images from the spoonacular API for our interactive program.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge we ran into was figuring out which sections of the API we wanted to include, and how we would go about implementing that into our website. We settled for what we have right now given the time restraints of the project.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

An accomplishment we are proud of is our creation of an interactive website that provides a creative outlet to new and experienced cooks. We're also proud of our use of an API as we had zero experience prior to the project.

What we learned

We learned how to utilize all the tech stacks of a full-stack developer and create a working website that is able to interact with an API, creating an interactive experience for users around the world.

What's next for Dishes

With this project, we hope to continue implementing more interactive features and creating a better UI.
