Inspiration

Our inspiration comes from the research paper "A Low-Cost AI-Empowered Stethoscope and a Lightweight Model for Detecting Cardiac and Respiratory Diseases from Lung and Heart Auscultation Sounds" and our other inspiration comes from our willingness to help people who are in need.

What it does

AeroPulse is an AI-enabled stethoscope designed to detect lung diseases using breathing sounds. By integrating lightweight AI capabilities into a traditional stethoscope, AeroPulse transforms a common medical tool into a powerful diagnostic device. This cost-effective solution is accessible to hospitals in developing nations, allowing healthcare providers to diagnose respiratory conditions efficiently and affordably.

How we built it

We built AeroPulse by combining AI, hardware, and a traditional stethoscope to create a seamless and innovative solution. Our approach involved integrating a lightweight AI model into the stethoscope to analyze breathing sounds for detecting lung diseases. By pairing the stethoscope with a compact hardware module, we enabled real-time sound processing and disease prediction, making the device both efficient and user-friendly. This integration ensures accessibility and affordability, especially for resource-limited settings.

Challenges we ran into

We faced challenges in ensuring high AI model accuracy to prevent misdiagnosis, seamlessly integrating software with hardware, and connecting the solution to the cloud for scalability and real-time updates.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of

  1. integrating hardware and software seamlessly
  2. enabling accurate AI-driven diagnostics
  3. setting up the solution in the cloud for real-time updates, scalability, and secure data handling.

What we learned

We learned how to efficiently deploy solutions on the cloud, securely transmit data through APIs, and effectively implement and integrate software with hardware to create a seamless and functional system.

What's next for AeroPulse

We are hoping to detect more diseases to help more people in need.
