At EveryBreath, we believe that awareness in every breath is essential. In every breath that you take, there could be contaminants that you can not see and that can affect your health. For example

Wildfire smoke can trigger asthma attacks and increase the risk of heart problems. Pollen and other aeroallergens often lead to respiratory irritation and asthma flare-ups. Extreme heat, cold, or stagnant weather can worsen breathing issues and strain the heart.

Our project aims to raise awareness about the air quality around people by providing personalized recommendations based on their location and sensitivities. We also aim to form communities through Strava group program integration, bringing together health-minded individuals to encourage one another and promote a healthier lifestyle.

Our implementation utilized an Express backend, paired with data from multiple APIs and Google Gemini, to provide the necessary information for the app. Our frontend consisted of Next.js and React to curate a friendly and interactive user experience. One of the more challenging aspects of developing our project was implementing our workout coach, which we integrated with Strava. We recommend our users' paths based on air quality, as well as factors such as scenic routes, distance, and activity (like biking or running).

Our project will bring together a community and raise awareness about the air they breathe, hopefully encouraging better health decisions.
