Inspiration
What inspired me was the Ice Bucket Challenge in 2014, which raised $220 million for ALS research and public awareness. It also brought communities together for the same goal — helping others. So, I asked myself: why don’t we do more challenges like that, but for all diseases?
What it does
My website turns you into the challenge maker. All you have to do is enter the name of a disease, and the AI will handle the rest — giving you a smart, easy challenge you can do and share online. You can invite your friends to join, and over time, these challenges will turn into trends. Trends raise awareness, and awareness turns into action — donations, unity, and change.
How we built it
I used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the frontend, while Flask handles the backend. The generated challenge (powered by AI) uses the Cohere AI API. i used canva for the logo and the video editing
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge was finding the most suitable API for our website, as there are many APIs, each designed for a specific task.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud of deploying a website for the first time and finding a way to help others, even if it’s a small contribution.
What we learned
I learned more about the Ice Bucket Challenge and its impact, as well as how to use the Cohere AI API effectively.
What's next for Trend for Change
In the future, I hope to add features such as showing what’s trending on social media platforms, so that with the help of AI, people can easily create their own challenges. I also plan to add a donation page so that people can donate directly through the website, making it easier to support the cause.
