What it does

Detects where your fingers are and when you are strumming in a particular area to know which notes to play and when. Plays guitar notes on the speakers.

How we built it

The finger position is detected using softpot potentiometers. Strumming is detected using an ultrasonic sensor on the jacket. The arduino processes the information from the sensors and when it detects a strum it sends that info to the Raspberry Pi, which plays the appropriate audio file on the speakers.

Challenges we ran into

The potentiometers are all the same brand and model but the same position on each one corresponds to different amounts of voltage on the output. That confused us for a while because they were giving different output than what we expected. We had to go through and measure the voltage on each one at the same position and change the code to treat each one differently.
