๐Ÿ’ญ Inspiration

Traveling has become increasingly popular after the COVID-19 pandemic for a few reasons. One reason is that many people have been cooped up at home for a long time and are eager to get out and explore the world again. Additionally, as the pandemic has led to economic downturns and job losses, many people have been looking for more affordable travel options to help them save money. Furthermore, with the vaccine available and the situation in many countries getting better, people feel more secure about traveling again. Our team has traveled together a few times since restrictions are slowly being removed, thus inspiring us to develop this web app that simplifies the process of planning an enjoyable and cost-effective trip by providing users with well-planned, budget-friendly itineraries. With the right planning, research, and budgeting, it is possible to have a fulfilling travel experience without spending an unnecessary amount of money.

๐Ÿ“ฑ What it does

Among the features provided by our system are recommendations for flights, hotels, daytime, and nighttime activities, outfit ideas according to the user's geographical location, quick travel tips, as well as many more necessities that allow individuals to have a fun and successful trip. The societal norms and perceptions of today often lead individuals to believe that only those who are financially well-off can afford to travel, due to the high costs associated with transportation, accommodation, and other expenses that are perceived to make travel exorbitantly expensive. It is our objective to furnish travelers with exceptional services while concurrently minimizing travel expenses. To achieve this, we have developed a web-based application that streamlines the trip planning process, enabling our clients to organize their journeys swiftly and efficiently without the need for extensive research. The app is designed to save our clients time, effort, and resources, by providing them with all the necessary information for their trip in a user-friendly format.

๐ŸŽฏ Accomplishments that weโ€™re proud of

We are thrilled to have successfully implemented our system within a mere 24 hours and are particularly proud of the visual design aspect of our project which is a testament to the hard work and dedication we put in. We had enough time to implement the main features we originally planned. Traditional booking sites and other itinerary applications lack efficiency and often advertise too good-to-be-true deals as well as false advertisements, they don't offer a smooth and automated experience of planning out a detailed and fulfilling trip itinerary, which in a way makes us feel accomplished and potentially offer a better alternative.

๐Ÿ’ก What we learned

The development of our Web App has shown us that the key aspect is having a strong concept, as our goal is to reach the largest audience possible and assist as many individuals as possible while faced with any challenges they may encounter in terms of traveling. We learned how to tackle obstacles efficiently while always keeping the user's pain points as our primary focus when developing the app. Our team developed a collaborative and efficient workflow through the course of the project, learning the importance of strong teamwork and communication.

๐Ÿ”ฎ Whatโ€™s next for AI-tinerary

In the future, we plan on improving the itinerary generation, as well as adding customized features so that users can like and dislike activities to better generate results specific to each user. As this is an application we're excited to be leaving this hackathon with, we will explore strategies for monetizing the application, while ensuring minimal disruption to the user experience.

Flask as Backend using Python, React & Typescript for Frontend, hosted on Google Cloud. Flask framework to handle server-side logic and data management using Python. The front end of the application would be built using typescript with react, providing a user-friendly interface and smooth navigation. React components would be used to build the UI, and Typescript would be used to ensure type safety and improve maintainability. The application would be hosted on Google Cloud, providing a scalable and reliable hosting solution, with the added benefits of security, automatic backups, and easy integration with other Google Cloud services. This allows the application to handle a high volume of traffic and handle many users.
