Inspiration

With the constant advancement of technology and other educational resources, the era of written textbooks and bookish implementations have seen a steep downfall in general populism. Students have slowly started losing interest in reading textbooks and mugging up concepts and slowed moved towards the visual aspect of learning and learning completely by visualization. For such drastically changing times, a smarter way to learn is required, a way comprising interactive experiments and visualization.

What it does

Our project Anatomy101 is totally based on the idea of learning by visualization, the project provides an in-depth knowledge about human anatomy by using different kinds of human body models and models of the different body parts, placed in a virtual lab area and all the operations on those body parts and body models can be performed easily by using hand gestures.

Features

Model Selection: The project provides an option to the user to select the body model of his requirement and study that model accordingly. The app includes the skeletal model, the muscular body model, and models of all different body organs.

Dissection: All of the models present on the application can be easily be dissected into its constituent models and those constituent model will be dissected with name labels on them for more comprehensive information.

Inspection: All the models, dissected ones or non-dissected ones can be easily zoomed in and then dragged to a different inspection area where a proper and comprehensive information about the body part is given via automated voice overs.

How we built it

Anantomy101 is built using the power of Unity Editor for the virtual lab area and the other the features such as dissection, inspection, and model selection. We have used the Manomotion SDK for the hand gesture control, to control all the models using hand gestures. Blender for the dissection of the anatomy model.

Challenges we ran into

Proper dissection of the body models was challenging for us, also, the integration of manomotion SDK with unity in order to control the dissected models via hand gestures required a lot of research to be brought into play effectively.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of being able to integrate such visually comprehensive technologies together and bring out our project as we had planned to make it.

What we learned

We learned to implement virtual reality models on the unity platform and successfully integrating it with manomotion SDK.
