Inspiration

Following the announcement of the hackathon theme, Steve and I knew that a remove.bg fork would be a fantastic idea for the hackathon and our personal use Since we both are graphic designers, editing background images tailored to our needs has always been an issue for us. After spending some time researching, we also discovered from multiple platforms that various social media influencers and graphic designers who regularly use remove.bg desired a feature to AI-generate backgrounds into their photos. This is where BackAI was born.

What it does

BackAI effortlessly removes the background from your images and seamlessly replaces it with an AI-generated image tailored from your specified prompt. BackAI makes it easier for the lives of graphic designers, creators, and social media influencers by eliminating the time needed to manually edit the backgrounds of images.

How we built it

BackAI was created with the use of Python-Flask, Html, Css, & JavaScript. BackAI utilizes the Remove.BG API as well as the Pollinations.ai API. The Remove.BG API is used to remove the background from the user's given image and the Pollinations API is used to generate the background image. After both are generated, Python Pillow is used to combine both images.

What's next for BackAI

Even though BackAI was created for this Hackathon, we believe it is an useful tool for us and plan on releasing it to the public soon to help many other influencers and graphic designers worldwide. Some extra features we plan to add include a video background remover.
