Inspiration
A lot of students like leaving their backpacks in classrooms or anywhere they were studying when they want to get food from outside. This raises concerns for many people about the security of valuable items, such as a laptop. This problem inspires my team to code
What it does
Backpack Secure secures users' backpack from being opened by strangers. It can only be opened without making any loud noise if the person inputs in the correct tapping code on the touch sensor.
How we built it
We built Backpack Secure using Arduino, javascript, esp-wroom-32.
Challenges we ran into
We first initiated the project using other hardwares. However, there were technical issues from faulty hardwares. So after spending almost half the day with it, we had to switch over to a completely new hardware. So we were running out of time working with the new technology which we started late.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We did manage to get hardware and software working separately.
What we learned
Hackthons are not only about bringing innovative ideas to the world with all the skillsets one and the group have but they also timed competition. So being able to manage time in all ways is very important.
What's next for Backpack Secure
More functions coming up! We are trying to add camera security into the system.
