“An average of 2 pedal cyclists died and 81 were seriously injured (adjusted) per week in reported road casualties. Almost half (46%) of pedal cycle fatalities were in 2 vehicle collisions between a pedal cycle and a car… and the most common contributory factor allocated to pedal cyclists in fatal or serious collisions (FSC) with another vehicle was ‘driver or rider failed to look properly’. It was also the most common factor allocated to the other vehicles involved”.

While cycling is beneficial for both a traveller’s health and the environment, it is clear that there are concerns around the safety of cyclists. The core idea of our solution is to provide them with a way of gaining information that reduces the potential for distraction as much as possible. For example, while solutions exist on the market for phone holders that clip onto the bike so the user can check their map, this results in a cyclist’s eyes being drawn away from the road.
