Inspiration

Coming into the hackathon we knew we wanted to work with the sustainability track. When walking through the front door the first thing we noticed was that business cards were scattered all over the front of desks, on the floor, and in trash cans. We continued walking and made our way to a Sponsor Fair Desk. There we talked with a woman behind the counter and ended up exchanging LinkedIns. Even though she had business cards laid out in front of her she preferred to pass her information to us digitally. This sparked an idea in our team. Instead of printed business cards, couldn't we create an app that allows users to create business cards on the fly and give them to anyone at anytime and anywhere? So we did it.

What it does

BizzQ is a digital app that allows people to create and share digital business cards for personal or professional use, anytime, anywhere. Anyone can scan a QR code of a business card and get to the user's website, they don't even need the app installed to get to someone's website.

How we built it

The entirety of BizzQ was coded in react native. The login page was made using firebase authentication. We utilized React Native navigation to direct users to a design page with dynamically controlled business cards. From there, they can access a creation page to interactively customize the cards to their needs, including the ability to add links, files, and images to supercharge them.We created an API, that API has an endpoint that takes in the card information and generates the website using HTML templating to generate a custom google analytics tag that can track the performance of the site and for future retargeting on the behalf of the user, alongside this, the qr code is sent as a response so the user has it at all times

Challenges we ran into

Challenges we ran into were working with the api and uploading it to Heroku. This took the majority of our time and made us learn many different ways to work with Heroku.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Were all freshmen students, and are extremely proud of doing this well on our first hackathon. None of us are really that good at coding and this experience taught us more than we could ever ask for.

What we learned

We learned how to work with firebase, react native, and many other different apis. We learned a great amount of information from making BizzQ.

What's next for BizzQ

We plan to implement many different features into bizzQ and make it much more user friendly. We also want to provide more ways for people to customize their business cards.
