BrokenElbow Lyrics is a web-based program that takes the user's inputs of an artist and/or song and makes a search request/query through the provided APIs and databases.
The inspiration behind BrokenElbow Lyrics is that we love listening to music and sometimes we will sing along, but we do not know all the lyrics or at all, so we wanted to make a code that pulls the lyrics and displays them for us to follow along with.
The user inputs the title of the song and the artist that they want to listen to and our website will pull up the lyrics of that song and display it on the screen for the user to read and follow along.
We built our project by using an API and coding in python, then we took the data from the API and implemented it into our website which we built in HTML
Some challenges that we ran into include stuff like not being able to set up GitHub properly, programming bugs, the search function not working properly, and not having the proper format for our website.
Some accomplishments that we are proud of are: figuring out how to use data from an API for our own project, learning HTML from scratch, and successfully coding a website.
We learned how to set up GitHub properly and how to code in HTML, as well as how to divide the project and work on different parts that come together to make the process quicker.
What's next is to probably include columns that contain links to other songs by the artist, include song information, implement Spotify so that the user can search the lyrics of the song they are listening to, and making the website look overall more pleasing
