Team description
We are not a high school team. We are students from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Inspiration
This challenge appealed to us the most.
What it does
Interactively shows the city budget and allows user input on it
How I built it
We used Meteor, which is a framework built on top of Node.js and MongoDB for backend. For the charts we used charts.js, and we used a Java program to parse the JSON files.
Challenges I ran into
We had issues integrating the javascript charts into the meteor webpages.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We were able to accomplish all of our tasks-separately.
What I learned
We learned a lot about Meteor and Javascript, and Kevin learned about Mongo as well. We got a lot out of this hackathon and we're proud of what we've done.
What's next for budget
We hope to present a nice app!
