CalenDream Team Schneider Members: Steve Schneider

In honor of DreamForce 2013, Team Schneider has created CalenDream, a mobile, social, and local application. Numerous organizations are calendar-centric in that they organize their “communities” or organizations around events, webinars, and milestones on calendars. CalenDream is a very social community calendar that can be configured to combine feeds of events from a variety of data sources and injects Chatter into the mix, even for events fed from remote sources such as shared Google calendars (remote objects use “proxy Chatter objects”). Four tabs are presented when an event is selected: a details tab, a Chatter tab for the event, a Chatter group tab (each calendar feed can be associated with a group), and a “Where Tab” that maps the location of the event and where you are. A Salesforce administrator can configure event feeds, which can include the user’s standard events, as well as events pulled from custom objects. CalenDream starts up in a mobile calendar that makes use of the JQuery FullCalendar plugin and has been adapted to fit on a mobile phone. CalenDream is an example of what can be accomplished in a few weeks by a single developer using the Force.com platform. The app is a remote hybrid application built with the Salesforce SDK and Cordova (PhoneGap) with the Android Developer Tools (ADT). OAuth authentication is used for security. Content is served by Salesforce as VisualForce pages with Apex controllers and is designed around the Mobile Design Templates.
