Campus Nutrition Assistant

Inspiration: Encouraging and enabling healthy eating habits for college campuses

What it does: Scrapes information about Northeastern University's dining halls on the current day and uses AI to create a balanced meal plan daily

How we built it: Python, using openAI API, pandas, BeautifulSoup, playwright

Challenges we ran into: Multiple team members were traveling or busy, and this being our first hackathon, we were still figuring out our workflows. No front-end, as our front-end hacker was traveling.

Accomplishments that we're proud of: Being able to create a strong, user-friendly project with real-world applications (we'll all be using this project going forward!)

What we learned: Ensuring all team members are available, OpenAI API skills, web scraping skills

What's next for Campus Nutrition Assistant: Turning the web scraper into an AI web scraper, using the openAI API to find, based on user information, their specific university's dining options, allowing students from ANY university to use the tool to plan their meals.
