Inspiration

Capital Coach was designed to give people with little financial knowledge the power to take control of their finances with budget planning and investment visualization.

What it does

Our project consists of 3 features. BudgetBoss, a feature which allows you to see how far off you are from your budget. InvestSmart, an investment visualization tool, and Capital Coach, our AI chatbot that allows you to navigate the site and ask the question you're too afraid to ask.

How we built it

Originally it was built with vanilla HTML/CSS/JS, as needed we learned new libraries and frameworks, like Graph.js for the investment visualizations and integrating the Botpress API to create the chatbot.

Challenges we ran into

Sleep. Only joking, sort of. Our main challenge was implementing the chatbot, we tried 2 APIs and and training our own custom language model, but found that Botpress was the best option.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The overall polish of the website and the fact we managed to implement 3 features all using technology we needed to learn within the past 24 hours.

What we learned

We are able to teach ourselves anything as long as you have the motivation and the right habits. Sometime the best unblocking is to take a stepback, go on a walk, and return to the issue is sometimes the most time-efficient.
