Inspiration

Car Shopping is a difficult task. Every time you buy a car, you need to search countless websites and dealerships and in the end, you still don't know what you want to buy. When shopping online, there is no way for you to understand how a car looks with only images and videos. What if a new way made it easier for you to visualize a vehicle? Sourcing Autolist, "Most people are in the car-buying “market” for an average of 89 days, according to the study. While car shopping, consumers typically spend more than 9 hours researching vehicles they like and shopping online for a vehicle to purchase. In truth, the car buying process can take even longer in some cases."

What it does

Our Program Car AR makes AI-based predictions narrowing your search for your perfect vehicle. All you need to do is select your options and Car AR automatically picks the right vehicle for you. After your vehicle has been selected, you can click on the suggestion made for you and view details about the vehicle as well as view an AR model in order to get a feel for the size and space inside and outside a car. This would make it much easier for a customer to pick a car that they want without taking countless hours to search for a type of car and it would also make a customer more confident in purchasing a new ride

How we built it

We built the AR model using Unity and built the AI Model using a prediction model from Obviously AI. We used Figma to design and mockup our initial application, and later integrated it with Unity for functionality and deployment.

Challenges we ran into

There were countless amounts of bugs, and updates needed as well as limited knowledge that we had in Unity that made building our product more difficult. There was also not enough data needed to train the AI model which made the choices of vehicles limited.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of the AI model as we were able to use it to make a prediction. We are also proud of the design we made using Figma as well as the AR aspect using Unity, and the successful app deployment of our mockup from Figma to Unity for usability.

What we learned

We learned how to design and build an application using Figma and we were able to deploy it using Unity.

What's next for CarAR

Improving the AI and adding more vehicles in order to make more accurate predictions as well as have more CarAR Models
