Inspiration
Climate Change is the greatest risk facing all of us.
Around the world storms, floods and wildfires are intensifying. Air pollution sadly affects the health of tens of millions of people and unpredictable weather causes untold damage to homes and livelihoods too. But while the impacts of climate change are devastating, advances in tackling it are leading to cleaner air, creating good jobs, restoring nature and at the same time unleashing economic growth. climate change has gone from being a fringe issue to a global priority. And it is no longer responsibility of select countries or corporates but the responsibility of all.
A better way for individuals to participate in the process is to buy personal carbon offsets and support projects engaged in emission reduction activities
What it does
Carbon Exchange is a marketplace for issuing, trading and retiring personal carbon credits/offsets. It allows
- Emission Reduction Projects to apply for carbon credits and sell the carbon credits to retail in whole or fractional form
- Certifier to issue the carbon credits to emission reduction projects
- Retail Individuals to select the high-quality carbon offset and buy whole or fractional of the same.
How we built it
Carbon Exchange is built using DAML code and tested in the sandbox
Challenges we ran into
Since DAML is a new language, the learning curve was steep. But with the help of DAML 101 and explainer videos, I was able to implement the requirements.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I was able to code the complete end to end the flow of a carbon exchange
What's next for Carbon Exchange
- Adding UI with Improved UX
- Incorporating additional Carbon offset Standards
Built With
