Catch cash in this net app bringing micro-financing to students to fund entrepreneurial & educational pursuits.
Work in progress :)
The cycle of poverty is notorious for holding back smart and enterprising young adults from reaching their full potential. At HackTJ, we tried to solve this problem by creating CashCatch—a web app that serves as a micro-financing platform for underprivileged students. Instead of using credit scores or or account balance as a metric for loan risk, which discriminate against the underprivileged, potential borrower’s themselves are given the chance to advocate for themselves directly to potential lenders. For example, a IOI Gold Medalist or a entrepreneur with a great idea would be more likely to be able to repay a loan. CashCatch allows potential borrowers to feature their accomplishments and intentions on their profile connects them to convinced loaners. I personally wrote the Node+Express backend of the web app, for which we were awarded the Capital One Prize for Best Hack.
