Culina was born out of a simple but powerful idea: that sharing a meal can be a bridge to meaningful connections and a remedy for the loneliness many young people experience in our fast-paced world. This is our story.

The inspiration for Culina came from observing the challenges faced by young adults in an increasingly busy and digitally connected world. Many people, despite being surrounded by technology, were experiencing feelings of isolation and longing for more meaningful social interactions. We realized that something as universal as the act of sharing a meal had the potential to bring people together in a unique and profound way.

  • Creating Group Chat: Culina enables users to create group chats, perfect for organizing larger meal gatherings or potluck events. Plan your meals with friends, family, or new acquaintances effortlessly.

  • Video Calling: For those who prefer a more immersive experience, Culina offers video calling, allowing users to interact face-to-face, no matter where they are. This feature is ideal for sharing cooking tips or simply enjoying a virtual meal together.

  • News Feed: Share your culinary adventures with the Culina community through Feed. Record and upload videos of your cooking skills, meal preparation, or even your mealtime conversations.

Challenges Faced

Building Culina wasn't without its challenges. Some of the key hurdles we had to overcome included:

  1. New technology: The team has to to get used to the new technology in a short amount of time. Some of us does not have any experience in WebRTC or real-time connection before.
  2. Technical Complexities: Developing features like video calling and sharing while maintaining a seamless user experience required solving technical complexities.

Culina has been an incredible journey, and we're proud of what we've created. Our commitment to fostering meaningful connections through shared meals continues to drive us forward.
