Chimps on Wordle
The Chimps on Typewriters hypothetical applied to the web game 'Wordle'
Based on the 'Chimps on typewriters' hypothetical, as explored in the 'Chimps-on-typewriters.py' included project.
Attempts to brute force a wordle query given by the user, three layers of complexity to the brute forcing.
Given that Pure Random gives random letters, it has a 1/26^5 chance of getting the query correct each time. Random Words has a 1/12972 chance of getting the query correct each time given the number of accepted words that wordle has. The limited Ai I developed that retains correct letters can achieve via brute force an answer in roughly 20-60 guesses.
Each process ends by telling the end user how many attempts were made at the wordle, and therefore, given that 6 guesses are allowed each day, how many days it would've taken (I had to add a years number as well for the purely random and random words modes).
The three Programs of this project were as follows:
Chimps on Typewriters [2021]
Chimps on Wordle (Command line version) [2022]
Chimps on Wordle (GUI version - window popup) [2023]
I made a video essay that features this project! Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1o4d2WRMTU
