Inspiration

Growing up in a Hispanic household, I witnessed firsthand how financial management was always a family affair, not an individual pursuit. My abuelita would organize tandas (lending circles), my tías would pool money for family emergencies, and everyone contributed to household expenses. Yet, this beautiful tradition of collective support was trapped in a world of cash envelopes, handwritten notes, and awkward conversations.

What it does

The data tells a sobering story: • 45% of Hispanic households are unbanked or underbanked • 68% participate in informal financial arrangements like tandas • Remittance fees can consume 5-10% of every dollar sent home We built Circulus Casa to bridge this gap—merging the cultural wisdom of collective financial management with modern fintech security and transparency. What It Does Circulus Casa is a collaborative financial platform that enables low-income Hispanic families and community groups to: • 💰 Pool Resources Securely: Create shared wallets for household expenses using Swivel's infrastructure • Implement Savings to young siblings • 📅 Coordinate Bill Payments: Visual bill calendar with automatic share calculation and payment tracking • 🎯 Save Collectively: Group savings goals with progress tracking for everything from quinceañeras to down payments The core innovation is transforming informal financial collaboration into secure, transparent digital processes while preserving the cultural values that make these practices so effective.
