Inspiration
We were inspired by educational games, but also wanted to make sure it felt like a real game and not just a few lessons shoeboxed into a game.
What it does
It is a game where you need to manage and grow a city. While this may not seem obviously related to public health, in order to have an efficient city with happy citizens the player needs to encourage healthy habits among the citizens. We hope this gets players thinking about how they can improve their own health and how it can benefit them.
How we built it
We built it in unity.
Challenges we ran into
We had a hard time getting an isometric grid set up. Additionally we had very little experience with unity, so we spent most of our time trying to learn.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of the strong foundation we built for the game, as well as the art which with some minor edits would look like art from an actual game.
What we learned
We learned a lot about unity and how to manage our projects.
What's next for City Builder
We have a lot of features we wanted to add which we didn't have enough time to do. We plan on working on it after the hackathon and possible putting it on the App Store.
