Inspiration

With every major change in climate, our planet is suffering from losses. Most of these losses are due to the non bio-degradable materials around us which eventually lead to climate crisis. Today, we have many NGOs which help common people get rid of these wastes, but in the current digital era also, most of them are operating via telephone calls or messages. Our website aims to minimize this communication gap between the people. We want all those NGOs to be reachable through our website and want to contribute to this global crisis.

What it does

The website addresses the above mentioned issue by simply using the principle of 3R's i.e. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. The website asks its customers to select the quantity and type of the waste material they have and in return the customers get the benefit of getting their homes rid of that waste. Also, the customers can buy any recycled material that is available on the website.

How we built it

The website was built using the technology of node.js, along with express and CSS. Node was used as the backend language while on the other hand express.js was used to provide the frontend along with CSS being the lining on the cake.

Challenges we ran into

As it was the first time, we were dealing with Twilio API, so we had a tough time using the OTP services. Also, we tried to integrate a ML model which was capable of detecting the type of waste and accordingly classify it, but integrating both these models turned out to be a great challenge for us given the time constraint.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that we were able to make a complete and deployment-ready website in just a span of 2 days. We are also thankful that all our challenges and difficulties were resolved and we also learned many new things.

What we learned

The concept of integrating Twilio API with the website was new to us, and through this project, we learnt how to do so.

What's next for Cleanify Me

We would like to add a machine learning model to our project such that the user is able to just upload the image of the waste products and we are automatically able to detect the type and number of that product. Also, once we are done with all this, we would love to work with any NGO to push our website into action.
