About the Project
ClimaGuard is born from a profound concern for our planet's future. Despite the growing awareness of climate change, many people are unsure how to contribute effectively. ClimaGuard aims to bridge this gap by transforming everyday actions into impactful climate solutions. By leveraging advanced technology, we empower individuals and communities to actively participate in climate protection, making it easy and rewarding to contribute to a healthier planet.
Inspiration
The inspiration for ClimaGuard came from the realization that while everyone desires a sustainable future, the path to achieving it isn't always clear. Remote or overlooked areas often suffer from inadequate climate action and waste management, leading to significant environmental damage. We envisioned ClimaGuard as a solution that democratizes climate action, making it accessible to everyone, everywhere.
What We Learned
Through this project, we gained valuable insights into:

How We Built It
We combined cutting-edge technology with user-friendly design:
- Frontend: Built with React to ensure a dynamic and responsive user interface.
- Backend: Utilized Django for high performance and efficient handling of large volumes of requests.
- AI Integration: Leveraged Amazon Bedrock Claude 3 to analyze waste images, determine waste types, urgency, and environmental impact.
- User Authentication: Implemented Propel Auth for secure and seamless access with options for passwordless entry or Google login.
- Chatbot Integration: Integrated with You.com chatbot to provide users with real-time assistance and support, enhancing user experience and engagement.

Our journey was filled with challenges, including:
- Difficulties in integrating Amazon Bedrock Claude 3 for accurate waste recognition.
- Issues with Propel Auth during user authentication.
- Hurdles in fine-tuning the AI for precise waste classification.
