Inspiration

What matters today is good music. The internet has broken the barriers of music discovery. As a result, we are far more interconnected and influenced by our peers around us. Today we are listening to more music and our identity as a culture is becoming more pronounced.

What it does

This application acts as a means to tune in to the sound of your city. With our application, you can discover what music is trending in your city - while enticing our listeners to affect the Billboard chart. We look to spark the conversation of what great music is available.

How I built it

I've built it using prototyping programs such as Sketch and InVision. The backend of the application has been coded in HTML, CSS, Javascript.

Challenges I ran into

The biggest challenge is understanding the complex world that is the music industry. With the goal of affecting change, it's important to know how it works in order to do so. Getting started in planning what exactly we wanted to present today went through many different iterations. Monetization also played a factor.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We are proud to be able to showcase a functional sitemap to illustrate our product function. As a team, we overcame some hurdles but, nonetheless, we created a product that we not only believe can provide value but also can be easily monetized to provide further value.

What I learned

Today I learned what it's like to be emersed in an incredible and welcoming community of hackers who are passionate about coming together to revolutionize this Canadian Music Industry. I definitely anticipate that the relationships built today (or last night, yesterday) will carry on after this event.

What's next for CMW-billboardapp

Next steps are to further user test and transition from low-fidelity to higher-fidelity. In other words, implementing the design and adding function.
