Inspiration
We want to target the USC community. The goal of the web app is to connect students by providing them a way to share events with people they may otherwise never connect with or meet.
What it does
Users can create an event to share publicly with other students at USC. It includes a date, time, and description of the event.
How we built it
HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. We used Firebase Realtime Database and Storage to store the event and image data.
Challenges we ran into
Firebase is a beast. Ran into problems with writing the data and then printing it back to the page. We also had challenges that stemmed from our different skill levels.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We all contributed to the project even though we didn't all have the same knowledge about coding and design. We got the database wired up and working live!
What we learned
Maggie and Elizabeth learned and implemented HTML, CSS, and the MUI framework for the first time ever. Melissa learned more about Firebase and how to work collaboratively with GitHub. Ben learned the framework of how websites are created and implemented; the "magic behind the curtain."
What's next for Cola Connect
We'd like to add a profile page and give people the ability to private message, join events, etc. Add more social media type features for people to discuss events, etc.
