I focused on the back-end, I had the idea to use NestJS. NestJS is a pretty cool backend framework that allows for rapid creation of an MVC project, REST or GraphQL api. Because I had used a little bit of Express.js in the past I thought this would be a cool technology to learn since it expands upon Express and has baked in support for Typescript. We leveraged MongoDB for the database for this project and used websockets for real time communication.
