Inspiration
As a team, we realized how much trash there is in our waterways. There is bound to be some trash at the beach, lake, or just a small pond. This made us think about ways to help our environment, but in doing so we found how difficult it was to find opportunities around us. So, we decided to build a Figma prototype of a website that displays concise information about events and shows metrics of the damage of climate change.
What it does
The prototype displays information about ocean and planetary vital signs, to show the damaging effects of climate change. It also shows trash cleanup opportunities, for rivers, beaches, and other bodies of water, around the user. Lastly, it implements a point-based incentive program that helps keep up trash cleanup participation.
How we built it
We used Figma for our layout and functionality and Procreate for graphics.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled at first to build concrete ideas which slowed down our productivity.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of how smoothly it comes together and the simplistic feel as you navigate across Figma. We are also proud of the graphics and how they tie in together with the theme of the sea.
What we learned
We learned how to navigate Figma to create an effective prototype for a website.
What's next for Colossal Cleanup
Although we tried to fit everything we wanted into our prototype, one thing we felt we lacked was a paywall/functioning checkout for our rewards. We would also like to build the website for our Figma prototype, so it has some actual real-world application.
