Inspiration

We were thinking how as a community of CS Majors, most of us have a hard time to express ourselves to others and build quality relationships. This has been such a trend that it has become a joke.

What it does

CometsOnly is a dating site designed for CS Majors. We implemented features like a sign-in/sign-up form and profile cards to see different users.

How we built it

First, we planned out what we wanted to do for the app. After that, we started researching on ways to make our application, what languages/frameworks fits us as a team

Challenges we ran into

Because it was our first time developing a web app integrating the front-end with the back-end, we had some trouble making the two communicate with each other due to the CORS policy. Our back-end developer also had his first experience in creating an API with Go.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

With the limited amount of time, we learned so much about web development and how the back-end and front-end of an application works. It was also interesting to see an API be created with the Go language, something most of us did not know what to do.

What we learned

We learned that although Node.js & Express.js are the most popular environment/library, respectively, to create RESTful APIs, with the desire to learn, we were able to make an API with Go for the very first time. It is also amazing to see different skillsets be brought together in a team.

What's next for CometsOnly.com

We can take it a step further by expanding our horizons. Since the domain says "Comets" we assumed that we would focus on CS Majors first and other majors at UTD with their own specific details later on. We can also implement
