Inspiration
We wanted to promote food pantries and other facilities and make them more accessible to the average American by providing their exact location alongside other information. This was mainly done to promote and improve the health of people around the country.
What it does
The website lets the user input their current location and the website outputs different facilities in the area depending on what the user is searching for.
How we built it
We built it by heavily using ChatGPT, GitHub CoPilot, and other LLMs. We originally tried using the Google Gemini API, but that did not work, so our website currently displays what it would show in theory.
Challenges we ran into
We had a really hard time trying to figure out how to implement the website. We kept bouncing back from Flask to MERN. It was harder trying to understand how we were going to implement the project than the project itself.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to work together as a team and overcome obstacles together. If someone was struggling with one thing, we were able to find an alternative quickly.
What we learned
We learned how to use GitHub more properly, how to use LLMs as a tool in software development, and how to work together as a team.
What's next for Community Access Hub
We hope to expand the website so that it can display a map and provide the user with precise instructions on how to arrive at the destination.
