Inspiration

We decided that the space theme for this year's HackNC must be the center of our project.

What it does

Constellearn is an interactive web app that helps you explore and learn about constellations through engaging visuals and easy-to-follow lessons, bringing the wonders of the night sky to your screen.

How we built it

React frontend, Flask backend, Firebase authentication and Firestore cloud database.

Challenges we ran into

Integration with Flask and the database, mostly involved with posting progress and pulling data from endpoints

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to implement an infinite card feature to create a seamless experience and the theme of the website.

What we learned

Constellations are cool, and Flask is a versatile tool. We learned how to authenticate with Firebase, and a lot of useful React tricks.

What's next for Constellearn

Scalability, better database handling. A search feature for lessons, difficulty rating on the thumbnails before you commit too much time to a certain topic. Thumbnail images, support for more constellations. A profile page where you can display the constellations you've learned about.
