Inspiration

The project was inspired by the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Research Center website which features a live interactive map of the distribution of COVID-19 cases.

What it does

The website contains multiple sections to help people get a better understanding of the situation by providing them with live updates sourced from credible sources. It also provides them with necessary information on the novel Coronavirus which is sourced from recognized institutions. The website features a section where we offer solutions to combat quarantine at home as well as one which thanks all the people who have been working round the clock to combat the virus and they deserve much more appreciation. Since we source our data and information from authentic sources, we hope that people could use our website instead of reading false information circulated on social media platforms and to facilitate that we have made an all-rounded website dealing with multiple aspects of the COVID-19 situation.

How we built it

The website was built in HTML5, JavaScript and CSS3. We worked together over 3 days to build the framework and style it while at the same time we created the content. To speed up the process, we divided the work among ourselves. One of us worked on the website framework, another worked on the JavaScript and styling, while the third worked on the content of the website.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge to our site was making all the elements mobile-friendly, especially the graph.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're very proud of the look of the website and we feel it will attract users due to its robust and modern design. We are also happy we were able to make the mobile version and finish the project in such a short amount of time..

What we learned

We learnt that teamwork is key to a successful project and by working together and collaborating we were able to get work done much faster. Dividing the work was an effective strategy as we could get more work done in the limited time we had which would not have been possible if we had all worked on the same thing. We also learned a great deal about the novel Coronavirus and now have a lot of new information with us which we wish to share with the world.

What's next for Corona Go

Corona Go will be uploaded onto the internet and we will attempt to circulate it as much as possible through friends and family hoping it will reach a wider audience. We are still thinking of what more we could add to the website and how to improve it. We hope that this website provides people with relevant information on how to take care of themselves and that people trust this information instead of false information circulating on social media
