Credit Confidence

What it does

Our app allows a potential user to set budgets for financial areas of their choice such as groceries, fun, school etc. as well as lets a user create a financial goal to help keep track of their spending

How we built it

We used React-Native for our cross-platform framework and firebase as our database to keep track of data. We utilized Expo Go and Xcode simulators to see our changes in real time.

Challenges we ran into

While everyone on our team had some familiarity with web development and experimentation with CSS, HTML, and some Javascript, we were all completely new to React-Native and more advanced Javascript and database concepts. While we tried to keep our project relatively simple, we constantly ran into elementary development issues while coding simply due to our lack of familiarity with simple Javascript, React, and React-Native concepts.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

While our app is very bare bones at the moment, we are extremely proud of the amount of that we have developed in the amount of time allotted. This project allowed us to finally connect the dots on web development concepts that we previously never understood, and it's given us motivation to continue to work on this project after Tamuhack in order to improve our skills over time.

What's next for Credit Confidence?

Features that we would like to implement next but did not have time to implement are a user profile system that can allow users to create profiles with their emails and login authentication. This will then allow us to have users connect their bank account info to more accurately track their spending rather than it being a manual budget system that relies solely on the user to keep track of their spending. Furthermore, implementing a Credit Score review system to give insight on a user's credit score as well as how to improve it is one of the main features that we wanted to create. Lastly, a private forum only for users and people they've shared their accounts with in order to share financial tips, hold each other accountable, and show progress would showcase what our goal was with this project idea and what our end vision is for Credit Confidence: for users to be responsible with their finances and be informed of our to improve them.
