Inspiration

I want to use my passion and knowledge of technology to make my community and this world a better place. Through CrimiFace I strive to bring in an efficient and advanced technological program in the field of law enforcement and crime prevention. I believe that CrimiFace can provide invaluable help to law enforcement by making their jobs easier and this world a better place.

What it does

CrimiFace utilizes facial recognition technology to instantly identify suspects and seamlessly transmit data to a real time database.

How I built it

CrimiFace is built using python, more specifically I used: openCV (cv2) for the UI and camera, face-recognition library to implement the facial recognition aspect of CrimiFace, Firebase, a google cloud platform, to implement the real time CrimiFace database.

Challenges I ran into

One major challenge I ran into was figuring out the right positions for the UI elements on the screen. this may sound like a simple task, but it actually took quite a bit of trial and error to get the correct coordinates for each UI element.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

I am proud of CrimiFace as a whole for many reasons. One, I finished this project within the time constraints. Two, this was the first time that I have ever created a project like this, with face recognition and real time databases, so I am proud that I was able to learn and do it. Three, and most importantly, I was able to create a project that would positively benefit society and contribute towards making this world a better place :).

What I learned

I learned a lot of things in the process of creating CrimiFace. In terms of technical knowledge, I learned how to implement real time databases and facial recognition with python. In terms of life skills, I learned how to develop a major project within the time constraints.

What's next for CrimiFace

In the future, I envision CrimiFace becoming an invaluable tool for law enforcement agencies worldwide. As technology continues to advance, CrimiFace will keep pushing the boundaries of facial recognition, seamlessly connecting with an extensive network of security cameras and databases. It will seamlessly integrate into existing law enforcement systems, allowing for instant and accurate identification of criminals in real time. With the power of artificial intelligence and machine learning, CrimiFace will provide even more advanced predictive analysis, empowering proactive crime prevention efforts. Ultimately, my hope is that CrimiFace will play a vital role in creating safer communities and improving the effectiveness of our criminal justice system.
