The inspiration behind CryptidCoin was taken from card games like pokemon and Yugioh but with the idea of opening cards and keeping them using blockchain technology.
CryptidCoin currently works by having user-made accounts click and open the chest to retrieve Cryptid cards. The cards are stored in each unique user's account. With more time we would be able to implement the blockchain technology to the cards.
We built the web app using a mix of firebase, firebase storage, react.js,react-three, node.js, pm2 for the backend, and HTML and CSS.
The challenges we ran into were unique in the case that all of the team worked on technologies that were foreign to us the main issue was getting the databases and APIs set up along with having the main chest mechanic work properly.
Overall we are proud of learning technologies like react and firebase and studying technologies like blockchain and how they work. Along with the nice visuals like the card designs themselves and the style of the site.
The next step for CryptidCoin would be adding the blockchain portion of the website and making our cards actual virtual tokens that can be traded with other users across the world.
