Inspiration

We drew a lot of inspiration from our neurodivergent peers who confided in us about their struggles with neurotypical interactions in their day to day lives while at college. Several of our team members are neurodivergent as well, so Cue Me was a bit of a passion project. We looked to similar products like language apps that had an immersive, gamified experience that were both stimulating AND educational especially for older age groups.

What it does

Cue Me is an application that is dedicated to helping people learn to better understand social cues, body language, and social norms in a fun and rewarding way. It aims to make the learning experience feel more like a game than a textbook by utilizing various forms of immersive media such as photos, videos, animations, audio clips, and interactive exercises to allow users to engage with the material.

Cue Me’s primary focus is neurodiverse individuals. Many neurodivergent people, including those with Autism, ADHD, and Anxiety, have difficulty navigating social situations, either due to a lack of understanding of social norms and etiquette or a fear new and unfamiliar experiences. Cue Me can help better prepare them for kinds of situations Neurotypical people take for granted.

By employing a diverse range of media formats to deliver its content Cue Me enhances its accessibility and caters to different learning styles.

How we built it

We used Figma to create the mockup of Cue Me.

Challenges we ran into

In the beginning we struggled to prioritize core or essential features and wasted quite a bit of time on things that didn't really fulfill the promise our app conveyed. Additionally, we had a habit of overcommitting to goals that weren't feasible within the time frame we had. I think it simply boiled down to a prioritization and planning deficit. However, we were able to bounce back from those hurdles and still pump out a really purposeful and amazing product that we're incredibly proud of!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're really proud of the fact that we basically came up with an entire business idea that seems pretty feasible. Jay Edson was also able to create a functional chatbot, so we believe that he is especially deserving of an accolade (Go Jay)! We were also very proud of our pitch deck and business plan as we put a lot of effort into creating those.

What we learned

Companies are hard to make. I think we don't realize that there's a lot of already pre-existing companies (which is a somewhat demoralizing thing to discover while trying to brainstorm business ideas). I commend those who started companies the first of their kind (2010 went crazy with revolutionary apps).

What's next for Cue Me

It's currently 5:56 AM on Sunday, November 5th. What's next for our team is a rewarding trip to our beds. We're looking forward to hearing about amazing products tomorrow at the closing event though! Even if we don't win, we might even try to start this thing up ourselves and see what happens! The possibilities are endless. Peace out!
