Inspiration
As students who understand the stress of balancing studies with planning our next meal, we were inspired to develop an app that lets users easily find recipes filtered based on whatever (limited) ingredients they have, that satisfy their cravings, and that lets them share to and connect with others.
What it does
CuisineQuest is an app crafted for anyone eager to explore, share, and savor global cuisines. Users can create and add recipes with detailed ingredients, steps, and tags. The platform cultivates a vibrant community through recipe likes and advanced search options, encouraging users to uncover diverse dishes based on culture. Each recipe tells a story with details on cultural origin and user ratings. Users can curate personalized collections, fostering collaboration and a shared space for culinary exploration. The Minimum Viable Product (MVP) prioritizes basic search functionality, setting the stage for future features like social engagement and tailored recommendations. "Cuisine Quest" celebrates the diverse tapestry of global cuisine.
How we built it
When designing this app prototype, we started with some basic wireframes and color palettes to help make the app more cohesive, functional, accessible, and representative of our themes and messages. After designing the wireframes, we transitioned to hi-fidelity frames in figma. We got to play with different elements and designs. Lastly, we were able to add some prototyping to these frames in order to demonstrate the app’s functionality from a user perspective. Based on the prototypes, we were then able to
Challenges we ran into
In the initial stages of developing "Cuisine Quest," one challenge surfaced as we recognized that team members brought varying levels of experience to the table. This diversity initially posed a challenge in effectively delegating roles and tasks. Establishing a cohesive workflow required careful consideration of each team member's strengths and expertise. Overcoming this hurdle involved fostering open communication, conducting skill assessments, and providing opportunities for skill development to ensure everyone could contribute meaningfully.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re all very proud of bringing CuisineQuest to reality and we’re also proud of ourselves and each other for coming so far in such a limited amount of time.
What we learned
We all learned new skills based on our current skills and interests, and we had the opportunity to create a working application in a collaborative setting.
What's next for CuisineQuest
Continue implementing the prototyped functionalities and deploy them on the App Store and Google Play Store
