Inspiration
Our inspiration came from the EU’s recent decision to tag all electric vehicle batteries with digital passports by 2027. However, this does not guarantee that the information is usable by recyclers or refitters, and only applies to this one industry. Expanding this to other markets, and to consumers, is of great benefit to all.
What it does
Our SaaS platform enables manufacturers to give each product a unique ID, to which they attach information about material components, how the product can be reused or recycled, etc. Consumers can use this to make informed decisions about recycling and learn about how their products were made, increasing transparency. Recyclers, repairers and refurbishers can use this to effectively repair, recycle and reuse the goods.
How we built it
The website is a straightforward application, built with accessibility in mind. It will be backed by a database, and in future will expose a software API for companies. The data is stored on the website and each product is given an ID, which is attached to every product via a QR code.
Accomplishments
We built a website that is able to show product information to consumers.
What we learned
We all learned a lot more about sustainability efforts and improvements in recycling.
What’s next
The next step would be to contact manufacturers and recycling plants, and build a website backend and database that is able to support the connections and data we need.
