Inspiration
- As our surroundings become more and more globalised with cultures mixing together, it enhances diversity but at the same time we cannot deny that due to the clash of cultures, some individuals are targeted to hate crimes or harassment and sometimes due to societal pressure or fear most people do not take action against it. The flask workshop in HackHer inspired us to create a website with a chatbox, get a bit of experience with the Flask framework.
What it does
Haven is a website whose main goal is to provide personalised assistance if someone has recently faced any hate crime and provide support in any way appropriate. Our chatbot can provide resources depending on your current situation. We have used the flask template provided in the flask workshop to us.
How we built it
- Using JavaScript, Html, CSS, Python and Flask framework To create our full-stack website
Challenges we ran into
Being first-year students we did not have much experience in the front-end and the back-end
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- The front-end was really well done, we were able to connect every page together and was able to make it run and work.
- From the Design, we created through figma, we were able to implement it to code
What we learned
Flask, -how front-end communicates with back end
- Get and post
- This was our first time creating a full-stack website and design it
What's next for Haven
- We want to integrate AI successfully into our program such that each response is tailored to the user.
