Inspiration
Current DAO governance structures are purely plutocratic. The main way to issue governance tokens is through "airdrops" representing the DAO member's activity at the given time.
DAOs control a significant amount of wealth, but they couldn't find a fair way to distribute their tokens. We believe this poses a significant challenge in how DAOs are governed.
What it does
Our platform allows its users to create DAO streams. DAO streams are an effective way of issuing time-based governance tokens. These streams could be customized based on important metrics such as activity, voting, etc.
How we built it
We used Mintbase to create the DAO NFTs representing the right to govern. We also used Roke.to to stream tokens to the NFT holders with customizable features.
Challenges we ran into
We are a team of back-end developers. For that reason, we ran into the challenges of building a good-looking front end. We hope to improve our front-end knowledge for the next year's NEAR hackathon.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we built a functional product. We are happy that we were able to integrate Mintbase with Roke.to for our purpose of issuing NFTs to DAO members and streaming tokens to the NFT holders.
What we learned
We learned how to use NEAR contracts. We mastered how to mint NFTs using Mintbase. We also learned how to stream tokens using Roke.to on NEAR.
What's next for DAOStream
We would like to improve our offerings by adding GOO (Gradual Ownership Optimization) to further enhance DAO governance for NEAR-native DAOs. We would like to add stream function customizability for the user. For more usability, we hope to create dashboards for better DAO monitoring.
